Yobe state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka has inaugurated campaign council members.

A press release issue and signed by the state party secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Bakabe made and available to newsmen in Damaturu said the campaign council has Senator Ibrahim Geidam FCNA, CPA as Chairman, His Excellency Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan GCON Alternate chairman, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON Deputy Chairman and His Excellency Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim Grand patrol.

Others are, Senator Mohammed Hassan Director-General, Hon. Lawan Shettima Ali Deputy Director General Zone A, Hon. Professor Bello M Kawuwa Deputy Director General Zone B, Hon. Muhammad Ismaila Nguru Deputy Director General Zone C, while Hon. Barma Shettima will serve as the secretary of the council.

The release further said the party leaders carefully selected the above names because of their commitment, dedication and confidence repose in them.

The party is optimistic that the members of the APC campaign council will deliver and take the party to success in the forthcoming elections.

Troops rescue six victims of Boko Haram abduction in Adamawa

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with the Police, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security agencies, have rescued six victims abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Source who confirmed the rescue to Zagazola Makama said the victims were kidnapped on Aug. 22, following an attack on a Fulani settlement at Shuwa-Yinagu junction in Madagali.

“On Aug. 30, at about 5:20 p.m., as a result of sustained and continuous onslaught and combing of the Sambisa fringes by the combined team of troops of OPHK, Police, CJTF and other security agencies, the six abducted victims were rescued unhurt,” the source said.

According to the sources, those rescued include: Bakari Joda, Abdullahi Jugal, Saleh Abba Iya, Mallam Gunyal, Buba Daye, and Adama Isah.

The sources further said the victims were taken to Gulak Cottage Hospital for medical examination, later debriefed, and reunited with their families.

The source reiterated that troops of Operation Hadin Kai remain resolute in ongoing clearance operations to flush out insurgents and restore peace across the North-East.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA repel bandit attack in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in collaboration with the Police have repelled an attempted banditry attack in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Sunday at about 9:15 a.m. when suspected armed bandits launched an attack on a military patrol team behind the Faskari Local Government Secretariat, situated on the outskirts of the town.

“A heavy gun duel ensued which lasted for nearly an hour, forcing the bandits, who initially mobilised in large numbers, to retreat. Their mission was completely foiled with several casualties on their side,”the source said.

The source, however, confirmed that a naval rating, an Ordinary Seaman, was fatally shot during the exchange and died from his injuries.

The sources said that the area had been cleared, normalcy restored, and efforts intensified to track down the fleeing assailants had been lunched.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, in collaboration with police and local vigilantes, have rescued 17 kidnapped girls in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the rescue followed a coordinated response to an attack by armed bandits on Aug. 31.

The source said the bandits, in large numbers, invaded Bargaja village and abducted girls who had gone to fetch firewood in the forest.

“In the process, the criminals shot and killed two farmers who were working on their farms before security forces mobilised to the scene.

“Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, supported by police tactical teams and vigilantes, engaged the bandits in a heavy gun battle which lasted for hours.

“The joint forces successfully rescued the 17 kidnapped girls, while the bandits retreated towards the Niger Republic border,” the source said.

According to the sources , the rescued girls were handed over to Isa Local Government authorities, while aggressive patrols have been intensified in the area to forestall further attacks.
