57 Students Arrested Over School Vandalism in Ibadan

At least 57 students of Government Technical College, Orita Aperin, Ibadan, have been arrested for allegedly invading CAC Grammar School, Adeshola area, and causing significant damage to property.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on March 20, 2025, at about 3:20 p.m. when a large group of students from Government Technical College stormed CAC Grammar School, shattering all the windows of the school laboratory, which was under renovation.
Additionally, the front and rear glass of a school staff member’s car was broken, and an engineer working on the renovation was injured in the attack.
With the assistance of the school authorities and security agencies, 57 students were arrested in connection with the incident.
The student are currently in the police net while investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the attack and identify other culprits.

Catholic Priest Abducted in Anambra, Police Launch Manhunt

A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Stephen Echezona of St. Patrick Church, Ichida, has been abducted by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday when four armed men, operating in a white Lexus 330 SUV with an unknown registration number, intercepted the cleric and whisked him away along with his Toyota Highlander SUV.
A joint team of security operatives and local vigilantes (AVG) responded swiftly, pursuing the assailants and engaging them in a gun duel at a road intersection between Oraeri and Akwaeze villages.
Though the criminals managed to escape, their Lexus SUV sustained significant damage, including a shattered rear windshield.

CJTF’s Stray Bullet Kills 15-Year-Old Girl in Maiduguri

A tragic incident occurred in Maiduguri on Saturday when a stray bullet from a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operative killed a 15-year-old girl.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident happened around 10:00 a.m. at Kanti Goma Shabiyu, Umarari Ward, along Baga Road, while CJTF personnel attached to Sector 10 were carrying out an arrest operation.
One of the operatives, identified as 27-year-old Abba Sidi Mala, accidentally discharged his firearm, striking Zainab Usman on the head.
A security patrol team responded swiftly, rushing the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Her remains were later released to her family for burial according to Islamic rites.
Sources said that the suspect has been arrested by the police, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the accidental discharge.

Teenage Mother Arrested for Suspected Infanticide in Damasak

The Nigerian Police Force in Borno has arrested a 17-year-old girl, Fatima Adamu, from Gamari Village, Niger Republic, on suspicion of infanticide after her newborn baby was found dead.
It was gathered that on March 21, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m., Fatima Adamu gave birth to a healthy male baby.
However, shortly after hearing the baby cry, a witness, Fanna Modu of Chinguluski Village, noticed that the infant was no longer alive and suspected foul play.
A Police sources said thar detectives visited the scene, and an initial examination of the baby’s body revealed no visible signs of violence.
The corpse was taken to General Hospital Damasak for further medical examination to determine the cause of death.
According to the source, the suspect was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.
