2023: Yerima Commended Buni, Calls for Support for APC in Yobe

The Executive Chairman of Nangere local government council, Alhaji Salisu Yarima has commended the Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni for giving local government councils in the state the full support to democratic map to provide the dividend of democracy to the electorates and call on the people of the area to continue to support the Mai Mala Buni administration in the state.

Alhaji Salisu said all the developmental projects provided by the councils chairmen in their respective local government councils were done with the full support of the governor, as such assured the governor of the full support of the people of his council towards victory in the coming elections.

“Governor Mai Mala Buni has sacrifice too much to serve and provided the dividend of democracy as well as developmental projects which includes the construction of ultra-modern markets in the five major towns.” Yarima said.

Adding that the governor having the youths at heart made these achievements with a view to create employment opportunities, generate wealth and ensure sustainable economic development as well as to boost the economic activities for the state.

“In order to follow the footsteps of Governor Mai Mala Buni in improving the standard and quality of education, the council has provided 20,000 copies of exercise books and distributed them to 80 primary schools as well as 7 junior secondary Schools across the local government.” Alhaji Salisu said

“The council also purchased drugs worth thousands of naira and distributed them to all our primary health centres across the local government.” He added

The chairman further revealed that, despite the high price of diesel, the council has been purchasing diesel every month and distributing it to over two hundred boreholes across the local government to ensure availability of water to the people.

He added that the council also took the repair of generators as a continuous exercise to ensure that citizens enjoy the dividend of democracy under the APC administration and the Mai Mala Government in Yobe state.

Alhaji Salisu Yarima said, the council has currently embarked on renovation of primary Schools in Garin Kolo, Gosko, Dawasa and Nzada. He said the renovation work is about 90 percent completion.

According to Salisu Yarima, the council also supported students who are on courses in various institutions and also supported graduates seeking recruitment into the Nigerian Army, police, Civil Defense and other security Agencies.

Speaking on the coming elections, he said the council is also assisting INEC in its work to provide PVC to the people.

UNHCR Boosts IDP Empowerment with Donation of Soap-Making Machines and Office Furniture to Borno State Ministry of Education

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has donated soap-making machines and office furniture to the Borno State Government as part of its efforts to empower Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) through vocational training and livelihood support.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, received the items during an official handover ceremony at the UNHCR Sub-Office in Maiduguri.

The donation, which includes two sets of soap-making machines equipped with mixers, crushers, driers, extruders, and tables, as well as 30 chairs and office furniture to replace items damaged by recent floods, reflects UNHCR’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in crisis-affected areas.

Speaking during the event, the Head of the UNHCR Sub-Office in Maiduguri, Nicholas Kaburaburyo, emphasized the organization’s dedication to strengthening partnerships with the government and the Ministry of Education. He highlighted UNHCR’s role in facilitating the repatriation, resettlement, and livelihood reintegration of returnees, particularly through vocational training programs.

Engr. Wakilbe commended UNHCR for its unwavering support, noting that the donation aligns with the state government’s resettlement and empowerment initiatives. He revealed that nine Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers in Borno are actively training IDPs, with the vision of transforming the state into a hub for skilled artisans.

The Commissioner also directed the Director of Science and Technology to commence training for master trainers at the Borno State Vocational Enterprise Institute (BOSVEI) in Muna, with the goal of launching the IDP training program by January 2025.

Zakaria Ahmed, Coordinator of BOSVEI Muna, and Ali Musa, Director of Administration and Supplies in the Ministry of Education, expressed their gratitude to UNHCR. They acknowledged that the donation would significantly enhance vocational training opportunities for IDPs and improve working conditions within the ministry.

This initiative underscores UNHCR’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and fostering sustainable development in Borno State. Through such efforts, the organization continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of those most affected by conflict and disaster.

A deadly clash of supremacy between rival terrorist factions has claimed the lives of 15 Boko Haram fighters, with five Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) members sustaining injuries.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the confrontation occurred when ISWAP launched a coordinated attack on Boko Haram fighters loyal to the Bakura Buduma faction.

The assault, aimed at asserting dominance, led to significant losses on the Boko Haram side, with ISWAP fighters seizing an undisclosed number of weapons during the confrontation.

The incident marks the latest in a series of violent infightings between the two groups, which have been engaged in a bitter rivalry over resources, territorial control, and influence in the Lake Chad region.

MNJTF Troops Neutralize Six ISWAP Terrorists in Failed Attack on Darak Base

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) successfully repelled an early morning attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on their base in Darak, Cameroon.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack, launched at about 1:00 a.m., on Wednesday was met with swift resistance from the troops, leading to the deaths of at least six ISWAP fighters and injuries to four others.

The MNJTF, in a counter offensive operation, effectively thwarted the assault, leaving the terrorists with significant casualties while the troops recorded five injuries.

Meanwhile, intelligence sources have revealed major leadership shakeups within the ISWAP ranks. Abu Usman has reportedly been appointed as the new Fiye (leader) of Marte, replacing Abu Sale. Other notable changes include:
