By Zagazola Makama
Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists have clashed at kuwa Nguro and Ngoldiri village located in the axis of Timbuktu triangle in Damboa, Borno State.
This was Barely 24 hourz when another rival fight broke out in the axis of Tumbun Gini when ISWAP attacked some Boko Haram fighters moving towards the axis.
It was gathered that the latest clash of Feb 7, 2023 in the Timbuktu which lasted about 3 hours, led to the death of scores of the fighters on both sides of the terror groups.
A counter-insurgency expert in Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that many others fighters were wounded while some quantities of ammunitions and Motorcycles were seized from the Boko Haram faction.
As increase in anticipated rivalry attacks ensues, ISWAP are mobilising to launch more attacks within SAMBISA, MARTE and ABADAM to recover some areas from JAS.
The Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, Boko Haram on the other hand are massing up its fighters around the Sambisa forest and Mandara Mountain for a major face off with the ISWAP terrorists.
To rejig its fighting capacity, the Boko Haram terror group, appointed
appointed one Alhaji Ali Hajja Fusam, an indegene of Bama as new leader of the terrorists in Gaizuwa, a camp that had been destroyed many times by the troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
The continued rivalry clash between JAS and ISWAP seems unending as several efforts by the groups to join forces against the Nigerian military and MNJTF appears impossible.
While the development has influenced military operations positively, Operation Hadin Kai could leverage on the clashes to sustain its operation to finally decimate terrorists’ activities in the region.
