VP Shettima And The Budding Conspiracy

VP Shettima And The Budding Conspiracy
By: Inuwa Bwala
Julius Caesar of the Shakespearean fame was perhaps the most popular politician during the regency era of the Roman empire.
Caesar’s political sagacity had tended to diminish all others and he was on the verge of taking the crown of the then Roman Empire.
His eventual fall in the hands of his compatriots: including his confidant Brutus was perhaps the height of betrayal and hatred.
Caesar did not fall because he was ambitious, as alleged, but partly because he did not heed the warning signals from people who had premonition of the evil, the ides of March portend.
There was no sin they did not attribute to him, just to make their conspiracy sail through, but their own selfish individual plans also consumed them one after the other.
Every time people alert me about possible conspiracies against my boss and Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the story of the conspiracy against Julius Caesar reverberates in my mind.
One aspect of the conspiracy was the fact that, Caesar’s killers were his friends: one of them his closest confidant Brutus.
I have keenly watched some twists in the political trajectory, whereby those clandestinely working against the Vice President are his compatriots and kinsmen from the North.
I am particularly aware, of one man who may never forgive Shettima, even if he pretends to have done so.
If there is anything that has always pained the man and makes him to always crave for vendetta: was Kashim Shettima’s meteroic rise to political stardom.
Like the conspirators in Julius Caesar, he tries to hide his real intentions by pretending to be happy with Shettima’s rise, but inwardly hiding a monstrous intention.
He is acclaimed as a shrewd political contriver, a master schemer and a devil incarnate, who never steps back in any fight which bruises his ego.
My radar picks him as the arrowhead of a budding conspiracy against Kashim Shettima.
He is believed to be working hand in gloves with other kinsmen of the Vice President, who have never failed to show their disdain for Shettima, ever since his teething days in politics.
Some of them have made several attempts to be Governor’s, or at least attain very high political position, such as will place them in a stronger position to undo the Vice President.
I will only plead innuendo for now in this case, as this piece is not intended for full exposure, but as a notice that they are known and their intentions are an open secret.
Like the poet on Caesar’s way to the Capitol, I dare say: Shettima,be ware of your ex-boss, come not near your namesake, trust not the ex- minister, mark well your kinsman, you have wronged your neighbour, your former compatriot loves you not. For in all these men but one mind, and is bent against Shettima. Look around you, security gives way to conspiracy.
