NIDCOM Boss Describes Appointment of Nigerian-born Oyetunji As Well Deserved

Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has described the appointment of Mr Bola Oyetunji as the Auditor-General of the New South Wales, Australia as well- deserved and commendable.
The NIDCOM boss, in a congratulatory message on Monday, said the news of Oyetunji as the newest Auditor-General in New South Wales, Australia, was heart-warming.
She said the appointment was a confirmation of the resilience and competence of Nigerians living abroad thus making the country proud of them.
Dabiri-Erewa used the opportunity to advise Oyetunji on the need to use his new position to inspire the younger generation, especially Nigerians, that anything is possible to achieve through honesty, integrity, passion and hardwork.
Dabiri-Erewa while congratulating Oyetunji on his new assignment, implored him to be a good ambassador of Nigeria in the discharge of his duties.
Oyetunji, whose appointment was announced last Sunday will be sworn-in in April when the current
Auditor-General Margaret Crawford concludes her eight- year term.

Troops of Operation Safe Haven on Thursday, May 8 (correct the date), rescued a kidnap victim, Bala Musa, from a terrorists haven at Bulli village along the Bauch/Plateau states border.
The troops, responding to a distress call by locals, swooped on the the terrorists in a decisive operation to clear the adjoining communities along the border of all terrorists and other criminals.
They swooped on the Bulli high ground along the Gindiri (Plateau) – Lere (in Tafawa-Bakewa LGA) road along the border in swift response to a distress call and tip by a local who had sighted one of the terrorists buying food items at a nearby village, Bulli.
The Tunri high ground, Bulli and other adjoining communities have constituted dreaded flashpoints of the gunmen and other criminals terrorizing the Bauchi/Plateau neighbouring communities.
Acting on the tip by the local, troops, which first cleared Tunri high ground, diverted to Bulli, where they mowed down the terrorists and save Bala Musa, a citizen of Kano State, who was enroute back home.
His prompt rescue saved enabled his family to save a whooping N3 million they had collected, and were already on their way to pay as ransome to his kidnappers fir his release.

Troops of 117 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF), nutrialised two Boko Haram terrorists during a fighting patrol along Wuro Jabbe axis in Chibok LGA.
It was gathered that the troops engaged the Terrorists with a high volume of fire, killing two of them and forcing others to withdraw toward the forest.
Zagazola understood that the troops initiated pursuit and exploited the general area. They recovered arms in the aftermath of the patrol.

Tinubu to Perform Groundbreaking Ceremony of Projects at National Fire Academy

The National Fire Academy will come to light on May 28 as President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of several projects in the school.
The event is part of activities lined up for the one year anniversary of the present administration.
Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, after inspecting some ongoing projects at the academy, the training arm of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
He disclosed that the aim of the new project is to expand the academy into a world class facility that would see it retain foreign exchange by way of cutting down on foreign trainings while also providing training to personnel of other countries.
He disclosed that some of the projects that would be flagged off include a Clinic, Worship Centres, Props Centre, Sports Arena, Lecture Halls, Hostels and others.
The Minister said: “What we are about to do here is arguably the best and most sophisticated fire academy in West Africa and by the grace of God on May 28, we will be having the groundbreaking and we have a completion period of just one year.
“We are being lots of projects here and we are erecting a modern fire academy that can be compared to the best you can get anywhere in the world. Fire Service is not just a profession of choice, it is a mandatory profession that we must encourage in our society the first priority of government is to secure lives and property and own of the nuggets threat is fire. So, Fire Service is not even just about fire but about rescue too, being first responders in cases of emergencies and we believe that the potentials for the sector are really massive and they have rarely been tapped. So, the next one year, we are poised towards making sure that we bring your the best out of the profession. We want to create an academy where we won’t just be able to meet our local training demands but to also export trainings and make this a facility of pride to Nigeria as a country.
“A lot of affiliations and collaborations with local and international agencies have already been worked out and in the few months, we will be here so that you can come and see what we are doing”.
Chairman, Kwali Area Council, Hon. Danladi Chiya who was at the event with traditional heads, said the council has decided to cede more land to the Fire Academy for the expansion project.
