Group Ask Tinubu to Seek Nigerians’ Opinion on Administration’s Performance
*Insists Six Ministers Performed Optimally in the Last One Year
By: Michael Mike
A group, Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON), has asked President Bola Tinubu to seek the opinions of Nigerians on his administration’s performance so far, insisting that many citizens count the ministerial briefings for nothing.
The group led by Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel listed just six ministers as performing optimally under the present administration.
ELFON said: “President Tinubu should seek the opinions of Nigerians on the performance of his administration rather than relying on the Ministerial Sectoral Briefings, thereby making them judges in their own case.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed 47 Ministers to present their performance scorecards to Nigerians ahead of his administration’s one year anniversary, insisting that ministerial scorecard may not provide the desired result.
Godstime suggested that if the President genuinely seeks unbiased evaluations of Ministers’ performances, he should ask Nigerians for their opinions. He highlighted that 50 percent of the Ministers have failed to grasp their roles adequately, while 35 percent have performed fairly.
The group said in its research on the first year performance of the administration, it found six Ministers worthy of praise.
They listed performing minister to include Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Minister of Health, Muhammad Ali Pate and the Minister of Niger Delta, Abubakar Momoh
The group stated, “According to Nigerians’ assessments, only six Ministers have performed exceptionally well despite the ongoing economic challenges.
“Given the economic crisis plaguing the country, 35 percent of the Ministers have performed fairly, while six have done exceptionally well by Nigerians’ assessment,” Godstime stated.
The ELFON President questioned what kind of report the President expects from the Ministers, doubting that any Minister would critically evaluate their own performance.
ELFON said its independent feedback from Nigerians across all 774 local government areas on the performance of President Tinubu and his Ministers. Based on these unbiased reports, the six standout Ministers are: the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Works, the Minister of State for Defence, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Minister of Health, and the Minister of Niger Delta.
