Troops Neutralize Terrorists Kingpin Yusuf Gwamna, other in Katsina

Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have neutralized a notorious bandit kingpin, Yusuf Gwamna, during a fierce encounter in the Dutsin-Ma area of Katsina State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama on Monday that several other terrorists were also eliminated in the operation.

Gwamna had long been a high-profile criminal, responsible for multiple attacks, kidnappings, and other violent crimes across Katsina and neighboring states.

His reign of terror had instilled fear among local communities, making his elimination a major victory in the fight against banditry.

Armed bandit kills rival in Zamfara, triggers deadly reprisal attack that claims 10 lives

A violent internal dispute among rival armed bandit groups has led to the killing of at least ten residents in Tofa village, Magami District, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident began on June 22 when a notorious bandit identified as Uban Gora from the western flank of Tofa allegedly pursued and robbed a Golf vehicle traveling from Dansadau.

In a twist of events, another bandit from the eastern part of the village, reportedly angered by the robbery, confronted and fatally shot Uban Gora.

According to local accounts, the killing sparked a chain of deadly reprisals. On receiving the news of Uban Gora’s death, his gang leader mobilized heavily armed men and stormed Tofa village on June 23, opening fire on residents and killing ten people before fleeing the scene. Several people reportedly sustained injuries during the attack.

Community members buried the deceased according to Islamic rites.

Soldier kills robbery suspect during attempted escape from Minna barracks

A suspected armed robber was shot and killed by a soldier during a failed attempt to flee with a stolen motorcycle from the Nigerian Army’s 31 Artillery Brigade Tradoc Cantonment in Minna, Niger State.

Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident occurred on June 23 at about 4:40 a.m. when an officer of the Nigerian Army Corps Military Police, Idris Isah, who was on routine patrol within the cantonment, encountered two unidentified men attempting to push a motorcycle through a rear section of the barracks fence.

According to a preliminary report, when the officer challenged them, one of the suspects attempted to attack him with a machete, prompting the soldier to open fire in self-defence. The bullet struck one of the suspects in the left side of his body.

The injured suspect was immediately taken to the Military Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. His identity is yet to be ascertained.

Following the incident, detectives led by the Divisional Crime Officer, ASP Dakum Koptikhin, visited the scene. Photographs were taken and relevant exhibits were recovered. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Specialist Hospital mortuary.

Gunmen attack travellers on Nasarawa-Keffi Road, CCB staff missing

Armed men suspected to be kidnappers attacked commuters along the Nasarawa-Keffi Road on Sunday evening, shooting sporadically and forcing vehicles to halt.

The incident occurred on Sunday at about 8:15 p.m. between Gunki and Marmara, where several vehicles were blocked by the attackers.

Two passengers, identified as Sunday Uche and Mohammed Babawuro, who were aboard a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number FKY 728 ZA, were rescued after fleeing into nearby bushes along with other passengers who have since been accounted for.

However, concern mounts over the whereabouts of one Adoga Gupada Aruwa, believed to be a staff member of the Code of Conduct Bureau. Aruwa was reportedly driving a Toyota Highlander which was found at the scene with a bullet hole on its engine compartment but no blood stains.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing occupant Authorities have urged residents with useful information to come forward.
