Tuggar Appoints Ahmed Sule as Special Assistant on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has appointed Ambassador Ahmed Sule as Special Assistant on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.

Sule is a Political Science graduate from Bayero University, Kano, and a retired Career Diplomat with over 30 years of experience.

Prior to his retirement from the Nigerian diplomatic service in 2024, he worked in various Directorates and Divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. Ambassador Ahmed Sule also served at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, New York, USA; the Embassy of Nigeria, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and the High Commission of Nigeria, Ottawa, Canada. He was also Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria in London, United Kingdom.

Ambassador Sule was appointed Principal Envoy of Nigeria to the Republic of India with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal by President Mohammadu Buhari in 2021 and served meritoriously in that capacity between 2021 and December 2023.

While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has congratulated the seasoned diplomat on his appointment, he is expected to bring to bear his wealth of experience in the implementation of the Honourable Minister’s foreign policy drive.

Nigerian Navy Officer, Two Others Abducted in Mpape, Abuja

Gunmen have abducted a Nigerian Navy officer and two other individuals in the Mamman Vatsa area along Mpape Road, Abuja.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that that the incident occurred on March 21, 2025, at about 7:45 p.m., when armed men opened fire and seized the victims.

It was gathered that four armed assailants, shooting sporadically, kidnapped three individuals identified as: Lt. Cynthia Ako, a Nigerian Navy officer, Gold Alfred, a resident of Bwari and one other unidentified individual.

The sources disclosed that the victims were returning home in their vehicle after visiting a relative, Blessing Akor, in Beggar Quarry, Mpape, when the gunmen intercepted them.

Following the incident,Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command, personnel of the vigilantes, and local hunters have launched a joint search operation in the surrounding areas.

Teenage Mother Arrested for Suspected Infanticide in Damasak

The Nigerian Police Force in Borno has arrested a 17-year-old girl, Fatima Adamu, from Gamari Village, Niger Republic, on suspicion of infanticide after her newborn baby was found dead.

It was gathered that on March 21, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m., Fatima Adamu gave birth to a healthy male baby.

However, shortly after hearing the baby cry, a witness, Fanna Modu of Chinguluski Village, noticed that the infant was no longer alive and suspected foul play.

A Police sources said thar detectives visited the scene, and an initial examination of the baby’s body revealed no visible signs of violence.

The corpse was taken to General Hospital Damasak for further medical examination to determine the cause of death.

According to the source, the suspect was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.

IPOB Kill Five in Anambra Restaurant Attack

Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN militia on March 20, 2025, attacked a restaurant near the Odumegwu Ojukwu University gate in Uli, Anambra State, killing five people.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that about six armed hoodlums drove into Acuvic Kitchen in a black Lexus SUV at around 12:30 p.m. and opened fire on diners, including members of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG).

The victims include: Okechukwu Iriakano), a member of AVG, Ifeanyi Esenwaka of Umuoma Community, an unidentified middle-aged man, yet-to-be-identified commercial motorcyclist and female relative of the restaurant owner

Joint military forces and police were deployed to the scene, but the attackers had already fled.

The victims were rushed to Arch Angel Hospital, Uli, but were confirmed dead on arrival. Their remains have been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Following the attack, Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command and the Commanding Officer of Artillery Support Regiment, Onitsha, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.

Security forces have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, and investigations are ongoing.
