Troops intercept militia, recover weapon in Plateau

Troops of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Enduring Peace, have intercepted an armed militia mobilised for an attack on communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops, acting on a distress call, apprehended the suspect on Sept. 4 at about 1:40 p.m. at Kaskra in Ropp District of the LGA.

The militia, identified as Umar Yakubu, 20, was found in possession of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Yakubu was allegedly mobilised from Kuka Bakwi Fulani Camp in Barkin Ladi to launch attacks on communities in Nding village.
The suspect is currently in custody undergoing interrogation, while troops have intensified operations to track down other militias and recover their weapons.

Troops foil terrorist attacks, recover livestock in Zamfara

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have repelled multiple terrorist attacks across Zamfara State, neutralising a gunman, rescuing kidnap victims and recovering dozens of rustled livestock.
Zagazola Makama report that the operations were carried out in Anka, Shinkafi, and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas in the past 48 hours.
Sources said troops deployed at Shinkafi engaged terrorists who had abducted locals near Shanawa village. The operation led to the killing of one terrorist and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, three mobile phones, cash and other items.
In another incident, troops at Danmarke ambushed terrorists moving with rustled livestock from Kyairu village towards Bagega in Anka LGA. The troops forced the criminals to abandon 37 cows and a camel.
The recovered animals were handed over to the Bukkuyum Local Government Chairman, Mr. Aminu A. Gummi, in the presence of ward councillors and police representatives.
“These operations are restoring confidence among farming communities that have suffered repeated terrorist incursions,” the source said.
Residents commended the military for their swift response, saying the action prevented what could have been another mass displacement.

Troops rescue kidnapped victim, repel attacks in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued a kidnapped victim and foiled fresh terrorist attacks in Sabuwa and Kankara Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
Zagazola learnt that Mallam Urwatu Adamu, who was kidnapped on Sept. 1 at Maitsiga village, was rescued during a patrol by troops at FOB Malali in Kankara. He has since been reunited with local authorities.
Troops also engaged terrorists who attacked Ungwuan Dauda village in Sabuwa LGA. Although one vigilante lost his life in the firefight, the terrorists were forced to retreat without further damage.
The Theatre Commander, Operation FANSAN YANMA, Maj.-Gen. OO Soyele, visited troops at FOB Mabai in Kankara and later at FOB Faskari, to assess their readiness for special joint operations with Defence Special Operations Forces.
“The visit was to reassure the troops of high command’s commitment and to boost their morale ahead of upcoming clearance operations,” sources said.
Soyele also emphasised the importance of securing farming communities in Katsina, where terrorist incursions have disrupted livelihoods.

Troops rescue victims, recover livestock in Sokoto

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered rustled livestock in Rabah and Tureta Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
Zagazola learnt that the operations were carried out in joint efforts with state security agencies and local hunters.
In Tafara village, Rabah LGA, troops engaged terrorists, forcing them to retreat towards the Sububu Forest. Two kidnapped victims were rescued in the process.
Similarly, troops deployed at Tureta, in collaboration with Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, foiled a large-scale rustling operation at the outskirts of Bimasa village.
The terrorists, who had carted away 56 cattle and 38 goats, fled under heavy fire, abandoning the livestock. The animals were handed back to their rightful owner, Alhaji Malami Mai Rawa.
The rescue operations come at a time when rural communities in Sokoto have raised concerns about repeated attacks on farmers during the harvest season.
