Police in Minna arrests 28 suspects, recover dangerous weapons
The Niger State Police Command has arrested 28 suspects in connection with youth restiveness and thuggery in Minna metropolis.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, January 25.
“In a continuous onslaught against youth restiveness, thuggery and other acts of criminality in Minna metropolis, a joint task force comprised of the Police, Military, DSS, NSCDC and Vigilantees launched an aggressive raid and house to house search on 25/01/2022 at about 0100hrs at Unguwar-Biri community area of Bosso LGA and arrested twenty eight (28) additional suspects,” he stated.

Dangerous weapons and Items recovered from the sspects included 5 cutlasses, 8 knives, 9 cutlasses, 9 sticks, 5 one wood cutter, one axe, one iron rod, one iron cutter, one scissors, and 5 shisha pipes.

Other items recovered are; 13 handsets, 17 sachets and four nylon of Indian-hemp, assorted charms, clothes and slippers.
DSP Abiodum said that the operation will be continuous to fish-out all the undesirable elements and street urchins, until the metropolis is totally rid of criminals.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, warns all trouble makers to stop or face the full wrath of the law.
All suspects are under investigation in SCID, Minna and will also be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.

Troops arrest two suspected ISWAP informants in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two suspected informants linked to ISWAP in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno.
Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday following credible intelligence from a watchkeeper on suspicious movements within the Mainok general area.
According to the sources, troops of the 156 Task Force Battalion swiftly responded and intercepted the suspects while moving towards the Goni–Masari axis.
The sources disclosed that the suspects were found in possession of electrical cables at the time of their arrest, raising suspicions over possible sabotage or support activities for terrorist elements.
“They are currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigation to ascertain their roles and possible links with terrorist groups,” the source said.
He added that the operation underscores the importance of community-based intelligence in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts across the North-East.
The source reaffirmed that troops remain vigilant and committed to denying terrorists freedom of action within their areas of responsibility.

The Kano State Police Command has arrested several suspects following a clash between rival groups of armed thugs in Kano that left one person dead.
According to sources, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on March 17 in Jaen Unguwar Lalle quarters after a failed reconciliation meeting. A distress call from a resident prompted the Divisional patrol team to swiftly respond.
Police said the patrol engaged the thugs, restored order, and arrested the ringleaders, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 22, of Sabuwar Madina quarters, and Abubakar Bello, also known as Babuji, 18, of Unguwar Lalle quarters.
Three of the thugs sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. One, Aliyu Abdullahi, 22, of Unguwar Lalle, who suffered a neck injury, was pronounced dead, while the others are receiving treatment.
Further police raids on suspected hideouts led to the arrest of eight additional suspects. Items recovered include a cutlass, a sword, and charms.
Sources from the Kano State Police Command said investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be communicated.

Troops arrest suspect as rival Sara-Suka factions clash in Jos

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have arrested a suspect following a clash between rival factions of the Sara-Suka group in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on March 16 at Zololo Junction, where the rival groups engaged in a violent confrontation.
Troops of Sector 1 swiftly responded to the distress call and apprehended one suspect, while others fled on sighting the security personnel.
The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action.
Troops have continued to maintain presence in the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
