15-Year-Old Herder Arrested After Alleged Farmland Destruction in Plateau

Security operatives have arrested a 15-year-old herder following the destruction of a farmland in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on June 24 after a distress report was received that cattle had invaded and destroyed a farm belonging to one Benjamin Pam at Rakwok village.
The sources said security personnel from Sub-Sector 41, Gashish, responded promptly to the scene but discovered that the herders had fled with their cattle upon sighting the approaching security team.
A pursuit was immediately launched, leading to the arrest of one of the herders, identified as Muhammadu Bashir, 15.
The suspect was taken into custody and is being held while the relevant authorities commence the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
Security sources said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other herders who fled the scene.

Security operatives have intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected explosive materials during a stop-and-search operation in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the interception occurred at about 6:10 p.m. on June 24 at Barde village.
The sources said the vehicle, driven by one Lawal Musa, was stopped during a routine security check, during which personnel discovered a quantity of suspected explosive powder and three detonating wires concealed in the vehicle.
The suspect was immediately arrested, while the recovered materials were taken into custody for further examination.
Security sources said the suspect is undergoing preliminary investigation to ascertain the source and intended use of the suspected explosive materials, while further investigations are ongoing.

Troops Arrest Two Suspected Criminals in Plateau Raid

Security operatives have arrested two suspected criminals during a cordon-and-search operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 2:35 a.m. on June 24 following reports of criminal activities at a hideout in the Great Commission Ruga general area.

The sources said the operation led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Yusufu Ibrahim, 20, and Aliyu Ibrahim, 23.
The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation as part of ongoing investigations.
The sources added that routine patrols remain active across the Joint Operations Area under Operation Unity Haven to safeguard schools, critical infrastructure and other vulnerable locations.

Soldier Shoots Suspect During Struggle After Arrest in Enugu

A suspect arrested by troops of Operation UDO KA in Enugu State has died after he was shot during a struggle with a soldier while allegedly attempting to disarm the serviceman.
Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on June 24 along the 9th Mile–Enugu Road in Udi Local Government Area.
The sources said troops of the 103 Battalion (Rear), deployed at Ugwu Onyema, responded to a distress call over the conduct of a disorderly tipper driver along the busy highway.
According to the sources, the suspect was apprehended and taken to the military location for preliminary interrogation, where he allegedly became violent and attempted to seize a soldier’s weapon.
“The suspect resisted arrest and, during the ensuing struggle, attempted to disarm one of the soldiers. In the process, he was shot,” the source said.
The victim was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but was later confirmed dead by doctors.
The sources added that troops reinforced security in the area and intensified patrols to prevent any breakdown of law and order following the incident.
Military authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the development as of the time of filing this report.
