Amotekun Commander in Osun promises tough times ahead for criminals after bagging award

has warned criminals in the state during the pending yulitide to vacate or meet their waterloo.

Adewuinmbi who said he was determined to fight criminals and criminality maintained that effective partnership with relevant security agencies coupled with support of the public will go a long way to achieve the desired goal in the area of peace in the state.

Adewinmbi spoke while being decorated recently with a prestigious award as member of “Who is Who of Africa” by Africa Magazine in a short ceremony held at the Command headquarters of the Agency in Osogbo.

He said the award was a new challenge for him personally which will enable him to put in more efforts to fight crime in the state adding that the job of crime prevention, detection and protection is a joint responsibility.

The Commander added that with the award in his kitty, Amotekun under his watch has received a strong boost in the desire to do more by ensuring that lives and properties of the people of Osun is safe.

He equally restated his commitment in ending insecurity across the council areas in the state.

Presenting the award to the Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi on behalf of Time Africa Magazine, the publisher Ifeanyi Collins explained that Adewinmbi’s track record of bravery and philanthropic prowess earned him the award.

Collins enjoined the recipient not to relent in his efforts in ensuring sustainable peace in the state.

Emir of FIKA calls for unity to foster development in Yobe

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrisa CON, CFR, has called on community leaders, elders, youth, and all stakeholders to join hands to unite in our commitment to fostering development, preserving our heritage, and empowering one another.

The royal father made the call at the unveiling of the potentials of Kukar-Gadu, the launching of the history of Kukar-Gadu, the presentation of the Kukar-Gadu physical development plan, and the commission of the Kukar-Gadu Empowerment Development Initiative at Kukar-Gadu town in Yobe state.

He said, “Let us first reflect on the profound heritage that Kukar-Gadu stlands for. Our history is steeped in resilience, courage, and a spirit of unity that transcends generations.” Adding that, the history of the Kukar-Gadu book is a testament to our past, a chronicle that honors our ancestors, celebrates our tradition, and preserves the narratives that define our identity.

Dr. Abali maintains that the Kukar-Gadu physical development plan is a visionary blueprint designed to guide our growth, improve our infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for our commitment to sustainable development that is inclusive, strategic, and responsive to the needs of our community.

“It is essential that we work collaboratively to implement this plan, fostering partnerships among government entities, private stakeholders, and community members. Noted that, in doing so, we can transform our vision into reality. May this development plan serve as a catalyst for positive change, sparking economic growth and social progress.” The Royal Father said.

The Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers further revealed that the commissioning of the Kukar-Gadu Empowerment Development Initiative aims to equip our youth and women with the skills and resources they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

“As leaders, it is our duty to invest in our greatest asset—our people—and through this initiative, we will create a framework for economic sustainability, providing the tools necessary for individuals to succeed and strengthening our community as a whole. Together we seek to build a future that is prosperous and full of possibilities.

Seven residents of Adanla Ifelodun council area of Kwara State have been abducted by bandits.

The abduction took place without resistance from security agencies on boxing day 26 December 2025 at about 7:30 PM, at Adanla, Igbaja ward 2, Ifelodun council area of Kwara State

“The Bandits were said to have fired sporadically in the air injuring several people in the process and abducting seven of our family members who are now in the den of heartless criminals.

“A young girl was seriously wounded. We are shattered, hearts are broken, and tears won’t stop flowing. Our peaceful community is in deep sorrow, grief and agony.

“Bandits invaded our homes at this festive season forcibly kidnapping seven people and injuring several others.

” We pray for strength, protection, and the safe return of our loved ones even as we beseech God for intervention.

“We seek the intervention of His Excellency, the Executive Governor and Chief Security officer of our dear state , Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. We seek help of all relevant agencies, organizations and individual. An injury to one is an injury to all.” Said a source close to the victims.

Two Forest Security Guard Members arrested in Ogun for extortion, illegal possession of firearms

Two men claiming to be members of the Nigeria Forest Security Services (NFSS) have been arrested in Sagamu, Ogun State, for illegal possession of firearms and extortion of motorists.

Zagazola Makama report that the arrest was made on Dec. 28, 2025, at about 8:32 p.m. following a report that three men dressed in security uniforms were sighted along Ikenne Road, near the NYSC Orientation Camp, collecting money from motorists while visibly armed with hunter-style guns.

Upon receiving the information, operatives from the Sagamu Division raced to the scene and apprehended two suspects: Emmanuel Idu, 55, and Sunday Moses, 35. A third suspect, identified as Oyilo David, 35, fled the scene and is currently at large.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested men claimed to be attached to the Sagamu NFSS unit operating along Agbele Road by Otunba Gbenga Daniel Market. They also stated that the locally fabricated guns recovered from them were issued by a Commander Kehinde Joseph, allegedly supervising their operations.

In addition to the firearms, security operatives recovered one unexpended cartridge and the sum of ₦1,000 in ₦200 denominations from the suspects.

Authorities disclosed that one of the suspects had previously been implicated in a motorcycle theft case in Abeokuta, where the stolen motorcycle was recovered, and charges were filed in court.

The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Abeokuta, for further investigation.
