At least 41 fighters from the Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd, Boko Haram, and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), including commanders, were killed after
an infighting that broke out Wednesday in the north-east of Borno State.
It was gathered that the ISWAP terrorists, who came on several canoes, attacked the Bakoura Buduma-led faction of Boko Haram in the axis of Duguri in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Impeccable sources aware of the clash told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, that the bloody encounter left 41 fighters killed on both sides, including commanders of the group.
He said that the ISWAP dealt a heavy blow to the Boko Haram terrorists, leaving many of their commanders dead.
The source listed some of the commanders to include Modu Kayi, Abbah Musa, Isa Muhammed, Ibrahim Ali, Kanai Zakariya, Bula Salam, Isuhu Alhaji Umaru, Dogo Salman, and Abdulrahman Malam Musa, among others.

The ISWAP were now having the upper hand following the defection of one Abou Idris, a former chief of operations for Boko Haram, who joined the ISWAP to fight his former group.

Troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Operation Desert Sanity IV have rescued four kidnapped civilians from ISWAP terrorists following a swift counter-offensive along the Gashua–Azare highway in Yobe State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama on Saturday that the operation was carried out at about 6:10 p.m. on Friday, May 9, after intelligence reports indicated that insurgents had abducted travelers while riding on 15 motorcycles.
Quick Response Forces (QRF) from the battalion, swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists in a heavy exchange of gunfire.
“The troops overpowered the terrorists, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon one motorcycle,” the source said.
The soldiers pursued the insurgents up to 6 kilometers from the ambush point, leading to the successful rescue of four abducted civilians. Items recovered from the scene included a pumping machine, a motorcycle tube, a plier, and three spanners.

FCT Police arrest two notorious armed robbers in Kurudu

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects terrorising Kurudu and its environs.
The suspects, identified as Hassan Adamu and Auwal Mohammed, both aged 25, were arrested on May 8 at about 2:00 p.m. during a targeted raid by operatives of the Scorpion Squad.
Police sources said that the suspects were linked to multiple violent robbery incidents in the area.
“One of the suspects confessed to a specific robbery at Angwan Hausawa, Kurudu, where a male victim, identified as Mohammed, was stabbed and later died from the injuries sustained during the attack.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives stormed a criminal hideout in Kurudu where the suspects were apprehended. A sharp dagger, reportedly intended for use against police operatives, was recovered during the search.
The suspects also revealed the identities of other members of their gang who remain at large and are believed to be armed.
The police sources said a manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover additional weapons.

Four persons have been killed by suspected armed men in Tse-Nyamkyume, Tombo Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, the Police Command confirmed on Tuesday.
Zagazola Makama report that the victims, identified as Matthew Mvendaga, Mernangwajume, Ushahemba Mvendaga, and a woman whose full identity is yet to be confirmed, were shot dead around 11 p.m. on Monday by gunmen suspected to have come from Guma Local Government Area.
The sources said that a top Police Officer was currently leading a combined team of conventional policemen and personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) to comb the area in pursuit of the assailants.
The police sources assured residents that efforts were being intensified to apprehend those behind the attack and bring them to justice.
