Boko Haram kills three people in Borno community
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists in gun trucks and motorcycles attacked Njilang Community and killed three people in Chibok Council of Borno state.
The insurgents also torched some houses, after snatching food items and other household goods and fled towards the Sambisa Forest.
Confirming the incident, yesterday (Tuesday), in Maiduguri, the Council Chairman, Umar Ibrahim, disclosed: “An unspecified number of armed Boko Haram members attacked the village in the early hours of Monday.”
He added that the insurgents commenced shooting sporadically into the air and killed three villagers, before setting some of the houses ablaze.
Also, there is an unconfirmed report that dozens of motorists and commuters were killed after two trucks overran an Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted along the Maiduguri-Damboa road.
The road, which was recently reopened by the military, is plied in an escort of motorists and commuters to Damboa, Chibok, Biu and Askira communities in the state.
The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa, appealed to the Federal and state government to fix the Maiduguri-Biu road.
He noted that bad roads fuel Boko Haram insurgency and delays Nigerian Army responses to communities’ various distress calls on attacks and ambushes.
According to him, the rebuild of Maiduguri-Biu, Maiduguri-Monguno and the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gambouru roads could prevent the planting of IEDs.
Governor Babagana Zulum, had on several occasions assured that the road was secured for motorists to ply.
Adamu Yahaya, who survived the multiple explosions on the road, said: “The terrorists targeted some the trucks conveying foodstuff for massive offloads and looted them into the Sambisa Forest.”
