Commonwealth Society of Nigeria Honours Adejo with Ambassadorial Role

The Commonwealth Society of Nigeria (CWSN), a prominent non-governmental organisation on and member of Commonwealth International, celebrated the achievements of Engr. Emmanuel Adejo, a distinguished Nigerian based in the United States.

Adejo, an expert in Oil and Gas, Energy Solutions, and Engineering Project Management, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to humanity, particularly in climate change, security, and promoting ethnic and cultural values within the Commonwealth in Nigeria.

In an award ceremony, Adejo was appointed as a Commonwealth Society Ambassador in acknowledgement of his impactful career and positive influence on people’s lives.

Expressing his gratitude, Adejo stated, “I am overwhelmed and appreciative of this honour recognition by the Parliament of Nigeria. I am humbled by what the Commonwealth has seen in me. This is a call to work very hard to better society and uphold the values of the Commonwealth of Nations.”

The General Secretary of the Commonwealth Society of Nigeria, Prince Musa Abutu, while speaking to journalists, highlighted the organization’s commitment to motivating Nigerians excelling in various fields.

He emphasized that the NGO’s activities aligned with Commonwealth values, addressing issues such as HIV/AIDS, climate change, immigration, youth, children, and banditry-related security challenges in Nigeria.

Abutu explained that: “Our gesture is to motivate individual Nigerians who are doing well. We work with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Commonwealth Foundation in London, focusing on core values such as HIV/AIDS, climate change, immigrants, youth, children, and security challenges in Nigeria.”

He further outlined the organization’s efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, linking the pandemic to poverty and initiatives aimed at eradicating poverty and hunger through vocational skill acquisition centers. The appointment of Engr. Emmanuel Adejo, as a Commonwealth Society Ambassador, reflects the organization’s commitment to recognizing and empowering individuals contributing significantly to societal well-being.

Ifelodun LG imposes 24 hour curfew across Oro-Ago District for clearance operation

A 24 hour curfew has been imposed on the entire Oro- ago District of Ifelodun council Area, Chairman Abdulrasheed Yusuf said in a statement recently.

The curfew which took effect from 6 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, was imposed in a coordinated effort by the council in conjunction with security agencies to put terrorists in disarray, take them out by combing the area and protecting lives and property of residents.

The statement signed by Abdulquadri Jimba who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Ifelodun council area noted that “Within this period, there will be no human or vehicular traffic in the entire district.

“This is in support of the ongoing security clearance operation in the area. Further reviews of this measure will be communicated,” the statement noted.
