Fleeing ISWAP Terrorists Drown as Military Records Casualties

No fewer than 82 Islamic State of West African Province(ISWAP), fighters and their families have been drowned in River in North East axis of Damasak in Borno state

It was gathered that the terrorists and their families from the Lake Chad axis drowned in a desperate attempt to escape massive troop incursions between June 2 and 3, 2023 while trying to cross over to Niger Republic.

Zagazola reports that the separate incidents were recorded between Bulama Modori, Kaneram, Dogomolu and Jokka communities.

The River stretches from Komadougou Yobe, into Lake Chad through Niger.

The sources said that the terrorists attempted to escape for fear of battlefield elimination after they heard of the Operation Launched by military within the general area.

In another development, at least two soldiers were killed ISWAP terrorists attacked reinforce troops with a Vehicle Improvised Explossive Device(VBIED), at firm base Arege in Malam Fatori in the North East of Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was gathered that the troops who were on reinforcement to boost task force of Sector 3 and Sector 4 Multinational Joint Task Force(MNJTF), in Gerere and Arege, came under attack by a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).

Sources said that the troops later repelled the attack and held their position and equipment.

The number of terrorists killed including the suicide bomber were unconfirmed.

The ISWAP terrorists have intensified attacks using VBIED and mines to prevent troops incursion into their enclaves.

President Tinubu Okays Establishment Of Federal Varsity In Southern Kaduna

** As VP Shettima consoles Kukah family over passing of traditional ruler

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consented to a proposal to establish a federal university in Southern Kaduna.

Vice President Kashim Shettima who revealed this also disclosed that there are ongoing discussions to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

VP Shettima gave the hint at the weekend during a condolence visit to the Kukah family on the death of His Highness, Yohanna Sidi Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom and family member of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.

“With Senator Katung and the member of the House of Representatives, we have reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna,” VP Shettima said during his visit to Ikulu Kingdom, Kamuru, in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Speaking at the residence of the late traditional ruler,
the Vice President emphasized the commitment of the President Tinubu administration to the development of Southern Kaduna, citing the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as evidence of the President’s attention to the security needs of the region.

“Be rest assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart,” he stated.

Shettima also commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his inclusive governance approach, stating that “government is about linking all component parts to have a sense of belonging.”

He pledged that the federal government will work with the state government to ensure development reaches Southern Kaduna, particularly in road infrastructure.

Earlier, Bishop Kukah expressed gratitude to the Vice President on behalf of the family over the visit, saying, “I want to thank you on behalf of this family. Thank you for being with us.

“You can see the nature of the place in which we live. It took you around three and a half hours to get here. The road is largely broken. I know you will remain a friend of this Ikulu nation and a friend of this community. We are honoured to have you,” he added.

Senator Lawan visits Emir of Bade

President of the Ninth Senate, Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan PhD, GCON, Sardaunan Bade, Yobe North Senatorial District, has paid homage to the Emir of Bade, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, at his palace in Gashua.

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, PhD, GCON, also joined His Royal Highness for Juma’at prayers at the Emir’s palace mosque.

After the prayers, the former Senate President proceeded to Nguru local government area in his senatorial district to condole with two families that lost their loved ones last week.

Amongst those he visited were the family of former Yobe state commissioner for water resources, Alhaji Salihu Bakabe, who lost his beloved mother, Hajiya Budu Bakabe, and the family of a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheik Kalifa Fatigu, over the passing of his son, Aliyu Harazimi.

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, PhD, GCON, prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased. He asked Allah (SWT) to forgive their shortcomings and to give their families the strength to carry on at such a difficult time.

He also prays that Allah (SWT) grants the souls of the deceased rest in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amen.

Senator Kaka Shehu delivered a victory message to Gov Zulum as the Elkanemi Warriors smashed Kano Pillars 1-0

The game which drew a large crowd of supporters from across the state, took place this afternoon at the famous Elkanemi Warriors Sports Centre Maiduguri.

Having confidence in the fitness of the players, the Senator representing Borno Central Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan had in earnest, threw his weight behind the Warriors as he led thousands of soccer fans in cheering up the Elkanemi Warriors to victory as he waived the gate fee for the teeming supporters.

Al-Amin of the Elkanemi Warriors scored in the first half of the game and the team maintained a perfect advantage over the Kano Pillars despite the presence of an international player Ahmed Musa. A second score by the same Al-Amin came in the second half of the game but was flatly denied by the referee.

Gov Babagana Umara Zulum who was heavily represented by Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan alongside 3 members of the House of Representatives namely Hon Abdulkadir Rahis of MMC, Hon Satomi Ahmed of Jere and Engr Bukar Tslba representing Marte, Monguno, Nganzai.

Also present was the Hon Commissioner of Youth and tHon Sainna Buba and the ADC to the Governor Ashigar.

Played in an atmosphere of peace and harmony, the game further highlights the resilience and the build up to the restoration of peace in the state.

H.E Prof Babagana Umara Zulum rejoiced with the Elkanemi Warriors saying it is a victory well deserved.
