Katsina Killings: NSCDC To Train Men To Match Terrorists Fire For Fire

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is to upscale the hardwares of its men with commensurate training and retraining to match up with the current wave of insecurity and attacks on security operatives in the country.
The Controller General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi gave this assurance while on a visit to the Katsina state Governor, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, to commiserate with him on the recent killings of security operatives and other innocent citizens of the State when gunmen suspected to be terrorists attacked a military base in Shinfida community, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The terrorists had during the attack killed a soldier and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Audi lamented the vicious way bandits stormed the military camp in their numbers, shooting sporadically at everyone in sight and burning down two patrol vehicles and hijacking another to transport stolen food items to their base.
The CG while extolling the governor for supporting and providing an enabling environment for all security agencies in the state, vowed that NSCDC would spare no effort in ensuring total decimation and annihilation of all terrorist groups causing mayhem in the country.
He said: “The brazen attack on security operatives in recent times is one too many and must be resisted on all fronts to prevent further loss of lives of our personnel out there on the field working assiduously to keep the country intact at the expense of their lives. It is high time we go back to the drawing board to develop new methods and tactics to win this assymetric warfare that is fast consuming our people.”
He assured the Governor of total victory against bandits and all extremist groups terrorizing the country, insisting that the Corps under his leadership would continue to work closely with the state government by providing credible Intelligence information to nip insecurity in the bud.
Audi reiterated that the NSCDC would continue to synergize with other security and law enforcement agencies in maintaining internal peace and security through concerted effort to improve the professional skills and dexterity of NSCDC operatives through a highly blended training and retraining programme for personnel.
Responding, the Governor of Katsina commended the NSCDC CG for the professional experience he brought to bear in achieving so much within such a little period of his appointment as the third substantive CG of NSCDC and promised to give total support to the Corps in carrying out their duties in order to ensure they operate successfully without hitches.

ISWAP Terrorists Kill Hunters’ Leader in Borno

Suspected ISWAP terrorists have killed the chairman of the hunters’ group in Garjang village, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 5 a.m. on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Habu Dala, 53, was abducted from his home by the terrorists, who took him through Mulharam to Forfot villages in Damboa LGA.
Villagers mobilised in search of Dala and later found his corpse bearing gunshot wounds.
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and the hunters’ group visited the scene.
The remains were evacuated to the General Hospital, Damboa, where he was certified dead and later released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Nine Injured in Kwali Farmers–Herders Clash

Nine persons sustained machete injuries in a clash between Bassa farmers and Fulani herders in Gomoni Village, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the fight, which broke out on Aug. 9 at about 3:30 p.m., followed alleged destruction of melon and maize farms belonging to the Bassa community by cattle.
It was gathered that the Nigeria army troops
along with joint team of operatives, and vigilantes were deployed to the scene following a distress call.
Six Bassa and three Fulani victims with varying degrees of machete cuts were taken to Rhema Foundation Hospital, Kwali, for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the situation had been brought under control and normalcy restored, while investigation was ongoing.

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday attended the wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Shehu Aliyu, an Executive Director with First Bank of Nigeria, and Muhammad Jalal, son of former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Talban Minna, at the National Mosque, Abuja.
The solemnisation, led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Adam, alongside other Imams, featured prayers for the couple’s blessings.
Vice President Shettima stood in for the bride, while Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu represented the groom, culminating in the presentation of the dowry and the formal tying of the marital knot.
The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki, Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Muhammad Sani Dantoro among many others.
