Man Killed by Stray Bullet During Police Operation in Lagos

A 32-year-old man, identified as Zeyanu Muhammed, was fatally hit by a stray bullet during a police operation in the Gengere area of Ketu, Lagos State.
Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, when a tactical team from Area ‘H’ Command, Ogudu, led by ASP Friday Babep, moved into the area to arrest suspected robbers.
The team encountered resistance from hoodlums in the area who allegedly intervened and facilitated the escape of the robbery suspects.
In the ensuing fracas, a gunshot was discharged, and a stray bullet struck the victim in the shoulder, leading to his death on the spot.
The police said the body has been evacuated and deposited at a public morgue for autopsy.
In response, patrol vehicles were deployed to the scene to maintain order, while members of the tactical team involved in the operation have been detained pending further investigation.
Efforts are ongoing to engage the deceased’s family and the Hausa community in the area to prevent escalation of the incident.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the hoodlums responsible for obstructing the arrest operation.

A 60-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, has allegedly killed his 18-year-old daughter, Zainab Adamu, during a domestic altercation at their residence in Dawakin Dakata Quarters, Kano.
Zagazola Makama learnt that the tragic incident reportedly occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, when the father struck the young girl with a hard object, leaving her unconscious. A concerned resident raised an alarm about two hours later, leading to swift action by members of the community.
The sources said that the scene was promptly visited by the police. The unconscious victim was rushed to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, where she was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The remains of the deceased have been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Police sources said that the suspect has been taken into custody while investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the act.
Community sources described the incident as deeply shocking and called for increased awareness and intervention to address the rising cases of domestic violence, particularly those involving family members.

The Police in Katsina has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Mazare village, Sabuwa Local Government Area, rescuing three women and a baby girl unhurt during a gun battle with suspected bandits.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 12:21 a.m. on June 17 when armed men suspected to be bandits stormed the village and attempted to abduct residents.
Police sources said that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sabuwa mobilized and led a team of officers in Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol vehicles to the scene, where they engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel.
“During the confrontation, the operatives successfully rescued three women and an infant girl who were taken by the bandits. Two residents Saidu Isa, and Saidu Wa’alam, sustained injuries during the attack and were rushed to Haske Private Hospital, Sabuwa, for medical attention.
The sources efforts are being sustained to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects and restore calm to the affected community.

Security forces rescue four abducted illegal miners in Zamfara, others still in captivity

Atleast four abducted youths were rescued following a swift joint operation involving the troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police personnel, members of the Civilian Protection Group (CPG), and local hunters.
Zagazola Makama was informed that the incident occurred on June 17, when eight boys from Alasanawa village in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area, were reportedly abducted by armed bandits while engaging in illegal mining activities in Alawa bush, near the notorious Hawan Bakwai black spot.
The operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing four of the abducted boys while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining four victims still held in captivity.
