NAF destroys a terrorist logistics base, kills scores of ISWAP fighters in Sambisa

Nigerian Air Force strikes struck a logistics base of the terror group Boko Haram, killing scores of terrorists in a hideout in Parisu on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno.

It was gathered that a precision-guided airstrike coordinated by the Air Component and the ground troops of Operation Hadin Kai on December 5 has reportedly resulted in the killing of very large numbers of ISWAP fighters.

The NAF aircraft engaged the location in multiple passes, recording accurate hits on the logistics and large fuel dumps of the terrorists, which triggered a massive explosion.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was executed after a series of intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions led to the identification of the terrorists’ hideouts.

The sources said that the movement of the terrorists was traced to the location of the terrorists hiding under thick shrubs.

The aftermath of the airstrike revealed that the structure housing the terrorist and the logistics were destroyed while the few surviving terrorists, who were seen attempting to flee the area, were taken out by follow-on attacks,” he said.

Sources said that while the search was ongoing at the hideout, the militia made a desperate attempt to snatch a soldier’s rifle in order to escape.

“He was swiftly overpowered and neutralised by the troops in the process,” one of the sources said.

The remains of the deceased suspect were deposited at a hospital morgue, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices and recover more weapons.

The sources reaffirmed military’s commitment to sustain the momentum against armed militias and other criminal elements in Plateau, stressing that no effort would be spared in restoring peace and stability across the Joint Operations Area.
