Nigeria will overcome its challenges. – Buni

Governor Mai Mala Buni CON of Yobe State has expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon overcome the challenges bedeviling it.
He started this today in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary in Damaturu.
Governor Buni urged Nigerians to support, cooperate, and pray for the leadership of the country to succeed.
The governor noted that the decay suffered by the country for a long period calls for sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment for Nigeria to regain its glory.
“The challenges of insecurity, the economy, and climatic and environmental factors require strategic and meticulous intervention.
Governor Buni charged traditional, religious, and opinion leaders to preach peace, tolerance, and cooperation to promote unity among Nigerians.
“We should explore our diversity to promote national unity, and we must not misuse our cultural, ethnic, and religious differences to the detriment of our national unity. Governor Buni said.
“Providing leadership at difficult and trying times calls for sacrifice, support, and unity to succeed, he added.

Windstorm Damages NYSC Camp in Niger, Two Children Injured

A heavy windstorm following a downpour has caused partial damage to structures at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Paiko, Niger State, leaving two children injured.
Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred on April 25 at about 8:00 p.m. when strong winds brought down parts of the camp infrastructure during the rainfall.
The sources said police personnel were immediately mobilised to the scene to restore order and provide security, while some corps members were safely evacuated from affected areas.
According to the sources, no loss of life was recorded in the incident.
However, two girls identified as Fati Abdul, 12, and Adewumi Adesola, 11, sustained minor injuries during the incident. They were taken to a medical facility, treated and later discharged.
The sources added that normalcy has since been restored at the camp, while the area remains calm and under observation to ensure continued safety of occupants.

Troops foil kidnap attempt, rescue victim in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a civilian in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 26 at about 3:00 a.m., when troops on night patrol at Sanga responded to reports of sporadic gunshots along Ungwan Mohammadu village road.
The sources said the troops swiftly moved to the scene and made contact with suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a firefight that forced the criminals to flee.
According to the sources, one civilian who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident was rescued by the troops.
The victim was immediately evacuated to Confidence Hospital in Fadan Karshi for medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.
The sources added that troops have intensified patrols and are conducting follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.

Troops arrest 10 suspects in Benue offensive operation

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested 10 suspected terrorists during an offensive operation in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources told Zagazola that the operation was carried out in the early hours of April 25 at about 12:01 a.m. by troops deployed at Kyado.
The sources said the troops conducted a targeted offensive on a suspected terrorist enclave in the area, leading to the arrest of the 10 suspects.
According to the sources, the suspects were apprehended without incident and are currently in military custody for further investigation.
They added that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore security in parts of Benue State.
The sources assured that troops will continue sustained offensive actions to rid the area of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
