NSCDC Dismantles Activities of Oil Bunkerers in Abia

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismantled the activities of oil bunkerers in Ukwa East Local Government Area in Abia State.
A statement on Wednesday by the spokesman of the paramilitary outfit, Babawale Afolabi read that: “In its determination to salvage the nation from economic saboteurs the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has dismantled an illegal oil bunkering site, a large local Pour-put Boat for conveying locally refined petroleum products, a loading point and Automotive Gas Oil amounting to 9000 litres at Inhandu Community of Ukwa East Local Government Area in Abia State.”
He said: “During an interview with the CG’s SIS arresting officer, we deduced that the Squad through credible Intelligence got wind of oil bunkering activities taking place at Inhandu/Ikwariator Riverside; Ukwa East LGA where an uninterrupted loading and conveyance of AGO concealed in cellophane bags were ongoing.
“The Team swung into action without wasting time and was able to uncover a bunkering site where local refining of petroleum products had been carried out for a long time; about 2 large wooden Pour-put boats were seen at the river bank, some cellophane bags were loaded in fibre boats but at the mere sighting of our operatives; the perpetrators took to their heels.
“While touring across the site, some bags of AGO were also packed in an uncompleted building while some were loaded inside 3 different Vehicles ready for supply.”
He disclosed that: “Some of the exhibits recovered at the crime scene are:
2 Fibre Boats with 40 Horse Power Yamaha Engines, 2 empty J5 Buses and 1 Sequoia Jeep about to be loaded, 2 large wooden boats still under construction and some quantities of AGO concealed in cellophane bags.”
He noted: “The Intelligence and Investigation department has commenced detailed work to unravel the perpetrators and beneficiaries while an application for forfeiture of products and mode of conveyance would be sought at the law court at the expiration of our investigation.”
He however appealed to the public to cooperate with the NSCDC in the fight against crude oil theft to rid the nation’s economy off the hands of saboteurs.

Troops Arrest Four Suspects, Recover Weapons After Terrorist Attack in Zamfara

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested four suspects and recovered motorcycles following a suspected terrorist attack in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security sources said the troops of 1 Brigade, deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Maradun, responded at about 10:30 a.m. on April 22 after receiving intelligence reports of terrorist activities in Kofa Kyarawa village.
The sources said the attackers reportedly set several houses ablaze, causing panic and forcing residents to flee for safety.
Following the incident, troops moved into the area and apprehended four suspects believed to be connected to the attack.
The operation also led to the recovery of 13 motorcycles suspected to have been used or abandoned during the incident.
The suspects and recovered motorcycles were handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security forces have since intensified patrols in the area to restore normalcy and prevent further attacks.

Troops Intercept 22 Stray Cattle After Reported Farm Destruction in Plateau

Troops of Sector 6 under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered 22 stray cattle following a reported incident of farm destruction in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the troops, deployed at Dokku, responded at about 4:30 p.m. on April 22 to a distress report from Jol village regarding suspected destruction of farmlands.
On arrival at the scene, the troops reportedly found 22 cattle grazing within the area without a herder present.
The animals were taken into custody and moved to the troops’ location for further action.
The sources added that efforts are ongoing to trace the owner of the cattle and determine possible links to the reported farm destruction.
Operation Enduring Peace continues to maintain patrols and monitoring across affected communities in Plateau State to prevent farmer-herder-related tensions.

Troops Discover Illegal Oil Bunkering Site in Rivers State

Troops of Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), have uncovered an illegal oil bunkering site in Abessa Forest, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Security sources said the discovery was made at about 10:00 a.m. on April 21 by troops of 103 Battalion (Mechanised) during an anti-illegal bunkering operation.
At the site, troops reportedly found four small drum ovens, 50 sacks containing crude oil estimated at about 3,000 litres, and two waste pits used for illegal refining activities.
The sources said the recovered items were handled in accordance with Operation DELTA SAFE directives.
Authorities added that operations to dismantle illegal refining camps and disrupt crude oil theft networks in the Niger Delta region are ongoing.
