In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is already yielding significant people-oriented results in Rivers State and the entire Niger Delta region through the 7th Governing Board of the NDDC, the Representative of Rivers State on the NDDC Board, Hon. Chief Tony C. Okocha KSC JP DSSRS, today embarked on a massive inspection tour of most of the NDDC projects currently ongoing in several Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The Projects Inspection Tour, which is captioned “RENEWED HOPE IS REAL” and hashtagged “#TINUBUISWORKING,” commenced at Umuechem in Etche LGA, with the inspection of two units of modern semi-detached two-bedroom apartments for Teachers’ Quarters and a state-of-the-art three-bedroom apartment for the Principal’s Quarter, all en suite and at the finishing level.
Addressing the press at the groundbreaking of the second unit of the semi-detached two-bedroom Apartment Teachers’ Quarters, the Most Performing Rivers NDDC Boss, Chief Tony C. Okocha, thanked the Umuechem Community for their support and cooperation with the contractors handling the project, which has resulted in the speedy progression of the work. He urged the people to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has brought these projects to their community. He also cautioned the youths against participating in unnecessary protests.
The Paramount Ruler/Ochimba of Umuechem, HRH Eze Sampson Emu, in his ‘Thank You’ message on behalf of the Umuechem Community, expressed gratitude to the 7th Governing Board of the NDDC for finding their community worthy of this significant project. He lamented that there has never been a government project sited in Umuechem Community, despite the fact that the community has about 53 oil wells. Chief Okocha assured them that the NDDC will ensure that the school is fenced to secure the structures.
The entourage of the Rivers NDDC Representative proceeded to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Ndele Campus, in Emohua Local Government Area, to inspect the ongoing construction of a Modern en suite Ten-Bedroom Apartment NYSC Lodge, with Recreational Facilities.
The Paramount Ruler of Rumudele Community, HRH Eze Barr Damion Ejiowhor JP, and other members of the community could not hide their joy and appreciation for the NDDC Board regarding the project. The Paramount Ruler complained of neglect by companies operating in their community, despite the significant amount of mineral deposits that these companies extract from the area on a daily basis.
In Soku Community, located in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, the construction of the ‘WHO-Standard’ 10,000-gallon solar-powered portable water project is ongoing and nearing completion. The spokesperson for Soku Community expressed gratitude to the NDDC Board, especially to the Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Board, for fulfilling his promise to ensure that the incessant outbreak of cholera in Soku Community is permanently controlled through the provision of potable water, among other numerous interventions from the Commission.
Addressing the press, Chief Okocha commended the community for their support in ensuring that the project is progressing rapidly. He urged the people of Soku Community to support the government of President Tinubu, who made this water project, the palliative measures, and the medical interventions in Soku Community possible through the NDDC. He cautioned the youths against embarking on violent protests.
At Degema LGA, the ongoing construction of a 1,300-seat capacity world-class pavilion received commendation from the Rivers NDDC Boss for the quality of the work and the speed. The contractor, Engr. Emmanuel Ngbowa, promised to deliver the project in a few weeks.
Subsequently, the entourage of Chief Tony C. Okocha proceeded to inspect other projects in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, which included the ultra-modern multi-purpose Nkpolu Town Hall, the highly celebrated Nkpolu-Rumuagholu road project, and the Apara Link road project. All these are star projects of the NDDC, which are to be completed and delivered in a few weeks. The residents, indigenes, chiefs, youths, and women of these communities came out in large numbers to express their joy and gratitude to the 7th Governing Board of the NDDC for these projects, which have given them a new lease on life.
Addressing the press at the three construction sites visited in Obio-Akpor LGA, Chief Tony C. Okocha posited that all these projects would not have been possible without the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
He emphasized that the numerous projects of the NDDC currently underway in many communities in Rivers State underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of Rivers State and the Niger Delta at large.
He therefore charged the people to support President Tinubu’s administration and to shun violent and unnecessary protests. He assured them that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu is poised to provide more people-oriented projects that will alleviate the suffering of the people.
Finally, Chief Okocha thanked the Board and Management of the NDDC, ably headed by Barr. Chiedu Ebie and Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, respectively, for rewriting the history of the NDDC and transforming the Commission into a responsive and responsible interventionist agency.
