Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber in Nasarawa, Hunt for Accomplices

The Scorpion Squad of the Nigeria Police has arrested a notorious armed robber linked to multiple home invasions and violent robberies across several states.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, Auwal Ibrahim Sani, 30, from Makarfi Rigasa, Kaduna State, was apprehended at Mararaba Garage, Nasarawa State, on March 26 at about 6:00 a.m., following actionable intelligence.

It was gathered that Sani and his gang terrorized victims using assault rifles and other dangerous weapons. One of their most heinous crimes occurred on October 15, 2024, when they invaded House No. 482, Ken Nnamani Street, Wuye, Abuja, at about 3:30 a.m., robbing: Mrs. Helen Ogbolu and Mr. Ojo Otobo, carting away: Two cars: A silver-colored 2017 Honda Accord (ABC 481 KH) and a maroon-colored Honda Accord (YAB 166 GB) Gold jewelry, laptops, and phones

The silver Honda Accord was earlier recovered, and three suspects were arrested, but the maroon Honda Accord remains missing.

During interrogation, Sani confessed that his gang comprised seven members armed with two AK-47 rifles and pistols. He identified his accomplices as Ibrahim, Ismail, Sadiq, Jabire, and Bala, who are still at large.

Efforts are in top gear to track down the fleeing suspects and recover their weapons, while the police continue their investigation.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intensified security operations in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State following an isolated attack by Fulani gunmen on communities in the area.

Zagazola report that the incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on May 10 around Chenhen and Dum villages in Bachi District of Riyom LGA.

The attack came just few hours after nine cows were killed while five others sustained gunshot injuries during an attack by Berom Militia in Gero area in Jos South LGA.

During the attack, the troops also came under heavy fire by the attackers while a herder identified as Aliyu Yusuf also sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed for medical treatment

Security officials disclosed that during continued clearance operations at about 7:20 a.m. on May 11, troops discovered two corpses identified as Mr Peter Dung Dachung and Mr Amose Danbwarang.

The corpses were later evacuated by family members for burial.

The sources added that troops had sustained aggressive patrols and manhunt operations across the affected communities to track down the fleeing attackers and restore confidence among residents.

They said security presence had also been reinforced in surrounding villages to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered two corpses and rescued one victim following an attack at an illegal mining site in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on May 11 at Kedawa village in Barkin Ladi LGA.

The sources disclosed that troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41 Gashish, swiftly responded to reports of an attack on illegal miners operating at the site.

According to the sources, on arrival at the scene, troops discovered the corpses of two victims identified as Mr Napan Danjuma and Mr Leba, while the assailants had fled before the arrival of security personnel.

The troops also rescued one victim identified as Mr Anthony Daniel during the operation.

Security sources further disclosed that troops arrested one suspect, Mr Daniel Nathaniel, 42, who allegedly invited the illegal miners to operate at the closed mining site.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Mobile Police Force in NTV for further necessary action.

Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing assailants and prevent further criminal activities around illegal mining locations in the state.

Troops Neutralise 20 Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Zamfara State

Troops of the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, in coordination with ground forces, have neutralised about 20 terrorists during an exploitation operation in Zamfara State.

Security sources said that the operation took place at about 1340 hours on May 10, 2026, following aerial interdiction of suspected terrorist locations.

The sources said combined troops drawn from Forward Operating Bases in Isa and Shinkafi conducted a follow-up exploitation operation to Tunfa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, the troops advanced through Kamawara in Isa LGA and other adjoining communities including Kalage, Kalage Jena and Mashema before arriving at the target location.

Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) reportedly indicated that about 20 terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while two motorcycles were recovered from the scene.

Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on criminal elements and deny them freedom of action across Zamfara State and surrounding areas.

They added that troops will continue coordinated air and ground operations to consolidate gains and ensure lasting peace in the North West region.
