RHI: 900 Homes Receive Assorted Food Items in Kano

*As Renewed Hope Initiative Continues Food Distribution Across States in The Federation

The Social Investment Program Food outreach Scheme of the Renewed Hope Initiative has distributed 900 bags of assorted food items to persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups in Kano State.

The distribution is in line with the food outreach scheme project designed to cover the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. The program was first launched in Abuja, and Kano happens to be the second state where the ceremony is being held. Nasarawa is expected to be the next state to receive the donation.

Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative and First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, said the food outreach scheme is borne out of the desire to support persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.

Represented by the Wife of the Vice President and the Vice Chairperson of RHI, Hajiya Nana Shettima, at the Government House Kano, Senator Oluremi Tinubu assured Nigerians that the present administration is working to make life better for each and everyone. The RHI, according to the Chairperson, is working in line with the vision of the President.

The Representative of the Kano State Governor, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Hassan Danjuma, announced the contribution of land to women farmers as a support to the women farmers’ empowerment program of the RHI.

The symbolic distribution of the food items was done by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, while cheques were offered to women farmers in the state on behalf of The First Lady.

Troops recover pistol, arrest two suspects in Plateau

Troops under Operation OPEP have arrested two suspects in possession of a pistol during a stop-and-search operation in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on April 11 while troops of Sector 6 OPEP were conducting routine checks in the area.

According to the sources, the suspects were intercepted with one pistol loaded with four rounds of 9mm ammunition, two mobile phones, a jackknife and the sum of N1,700.

The sources added that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to determine the source of the weapon and possible links to criminal networks.

Troops recover three kidnapped victims in Bauchi

Troops of CSI Battalion have recovered three kidnapped victims during a patrol operation in Garin Bagobiri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 11:30 a.m. on April 12 as troops exploited the general area following an air strike on suspected terrorist hideouts on April 10.

According to the sources, the victims were recovered during the patrol and subsequently profiled by the troops.

They added that the rescued persons were handed over to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Futuk for further care and documentation.

The sources noted that ongoing operations in the area are aimed at consolidating gains from recent offensives and denying terrorists freedom of movement.

Troops restore calm after farmers-herders clash in Plateau

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have restored calm following a clash between farmers and herders in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on April 12 at Rakum village, where violence broke out between the two groups.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 4 OPEP swiftly responded and brought the situation under control.

They added that five locals, two herders and a police personnel on duty in the village sustained injuries during the clash.

“The injured persons were evacuated for medical attention, while one suspect was apprehended with two cattle,” the sources said.

They noted that the suspect is currently in custody for further investigation.
