Troops Ambushed in Dansadau, One Soldier Killed, Four Injured

Atleast one soldier lost his life while four others survived an ambush by terrorists in the North West of in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Zagazola Makama reliably gathered that the troops from the Sector 1 were ambushed while on patrol and escort duty along the Dansadau-Yar Galadima road.

The ambush, which took place at approximately 1200 hours on September 21, 2024, occurred near the Mashayar Zaki area as the troops were escorting soldiers going on leave and civilian vehicles headed for a local market.

Reports indicate that one soldier paid the supreme price during the attack, while four others sustained injuries. The wounded personnel have been evacuated to the 1 Brigade Medical Centre (BMC) for treatment. In addition, one of the patrol vehicles was damaged during the ambush.

Flood: Zulum inaugurates relief disbursement committee

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated a committee to disburse relief packages to victims of Maiduguri flood disaster.

The September 10 flooding has significantly destroyed homes, infrastructure and agricultural lands and displaced thousands of families.

The 35-member committee was inaugurated by Governor Zulum on Monday at the council chamber of the government house in Maiduguri.

The governor, while speaking, emphasised that the committee should ensure transparency in its activities. He said, “To the members of the committee, I urge you to approach this task with diligence and integrity. We must be accountable for every resource entrusted to us.

Zulum added that transparency in our operations will be paramount; we must ensure that every naira allocated for relief is used effectively and reaches those who are suffering.”

Zulum also directed that all allowances for the committee members shall be paid by the Borno State Government and not from the relief fund.

The governor ordered that 100% of the donations be disbursed to the flood victims. He noted that the state government would ensure the rehabilitation of public facilities such as hospitals, roads, and bridges while providing the needed financial support to those affected.

Meanwhile, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has announced that N4.4 billion in donations have been credited to the state’s relief account.

The state government established a dedicated account aimed at supporting the ongoing efforts to alleviate the hardships facing those affected by Maiduguri flood disaster.

Speaking after the inauguration of the relief disbursement committee, Zulum said “So far, we acknowledged a pledge of N13,195,500,000; however, as of yesterday (Sunday), we received a total amount of N4,441,494,902.81. All allocations to this account shall be made public in due course.”

Abducted Students of Federal University Gusau and Staff Regain Freedom

The students of Federal University Gusau (FUG) and some staff members who were abducted seven months ago have regained their freedom from their captors.

Reports confirmed that these students and staff were kidnapped during an attack by bandits in the Gusau area in February of this year.

After spending an extended period in captivity, it has been confirmed that all the abducted individuals have returned in good health.

Although details of how their release was secured remain unclear, security forces were said to have played a crucial role in their rescue.

Army troops of Sector 3 ambush ISWAP Terrorists, nutrialised 3

The troops of Sector 3 Multinational Joint Force(MNJTF), Monguno, Operation Hadin Kai have successfully eliminated 23 Islamic State of the West African Province(ISWAP) terrorists in Borno state.

The feats were recorded on Sunday September 23, 2024 when the troops ambush the insurgents in Malam Fatori.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that
the incident occurred following an earlier engagement, during which troops had pushed back enemy forces before neutralizing three of the insurgents in a fierce engagement.

There were no fatalities among the Nigerian forces. However, two soldiers sustained injuries during the clash.

In the aftermath of the encounter, troops recovered weapons and equipment from the insurgents which include: 1 PKM machine gun,1 AK-47 rifle, 2 hand grenades, 5 magazines, 3 empty PKM links and 1 box of 200 linked PKM rounds among others.
