Two Injured as Youth Clash with Customs Officers in Adamawa

A clash between youths and a Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) patrol team in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State has left two individuals injured after security operatives opened fire to disperse a mob.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Friday when a customs patrol team intercepted a vehicle smuggling fuel toward Cameroon at Wuro Manu Malabu.
While returning from the operation, a group of youths at Kilange Village blocked the road in an attempt to free the seized vehicle.
In the ensuing confrontation, customs operatives fired warning shots, but stray bullets hit two individuals Abdulkarim Maikanti, 30, and Yauba Babai, 25 both residents of Cameroon. The victims were rushed to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, for medical attention.
Authorities have since visited the scene, and efforts are underway to convene a stakeholders’ meeting to caution local youths against obstructing law enforcement operations.

Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Abuja’s Area 11

The Nigerian Police Force(NPF) FCT Command has rescued Mrs. Tina Iyabo Ajayi, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in front of MSP Hotel, Area 11, Garki, on the evening of March 25.
A Police Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that her sister, Mrs. Taiye Akpeji, reported the incident at Garki Police Division at about 7:30 PM, stating that Ajayi had been kidnapped around 6:00 PM.
He said acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilized operatives, and as a result of their efforts, the victim was abandoned by her abductors near AYA Area at about 8:53 PM.
She was immediately taken to Garki General Hospital for medical examination.
The Garki Police Division is conducting an investigation to identify and apprehend the kidnappers.

Senator Lawan donates N27m, 300 bags of rice to victims of a fire outbreak in Yobe.

Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, PhD, GCON, Yobe North Senatorial District, has donated a total sum of #27 million naira and 300 bags of rice to the victims of the recent fire outbreaks in the three local government areas at his constituents.
The affected local government areas are Machina, Nguru, and Yusufari. The former Senate President has sympathies for the victims of the fire outbreaks that affected several communities.
“These unfortunate incidents have caused significant loss and hardship, and my thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted during this difficult time.
“It is our collective responsibility to stand together, support one another, and provide relief to those in need. As your representatives in the National Assembly, I am committed to ensuring that the affected communities receive the necessary assistance to recover, Senator Lawan said.
According to him, this assistance is aimed at complementing efforts by the Yobe state government in providing immediate relief to the affected families and helping them to recover from the devastating impact of the fire outbreaks.
He urged the distribution team at his foundation, SAIL Foundation, to ensure that these resources reach the intended beneficiaries in a fair and transparent manner.
Senator Lawan assures his constituents that he will continue to work tirelessly to support our communities and advocate for measures that will prevent such incidents in the future. Together, we will overcome this challenge and emerge stronger.
The breakdown of the support is as follows. Machina LGA, #12 million, and 150 bags of rice, which will be distributed in the Ngabarawa, Dole, Ghana, and Damai communities. Nguru LGA will receive #5 million and 50 bags of rice, which will be allocated to the Askema and Mirba communities, while Yusufari LGA will get #10 million and 100 bags of rice, which will be distributed to Tulo-Tulo and Isufuri, respectively.
He prayed, May Allah (SWT) grant us the strength to endure these trials and bless us with peace and prosperity in this holy month of Ramadan. Ameen.

The fleeing inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Koton-Karfe, Kogi State, which expressed jailbreak on Monday would have to face justice especially the killing of a Senior Correctional Assistant (SCA) Shuaibu King David
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) regrets to announce the tragic demise of Senior Correctional Assistant (SCA) Shuaibu King David during the unfortunate escape incident at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Koton-Karfe, Kogi State, on 24 March, 2025.
The Acting Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche made this vow on Tuesday while on behalf of the entire Nigerian Correctional Service extended heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the late personnel, noting that the service and ultimate sacrifice of the falling hero would forever be remembered and honoured.
The statement read that SCA Shuaibu King David, in the line of duty, bravely stood his ground in an effort to prevent the escape of inmates and protect the integrity of the custodial centre. His courageous sacrifice reflects his unwavering dedication to service and national security.
Nwakuche said the Nigerian Correctional Service is working closely with relevant security agencies and communities to recapture those still at large and bring them to justice, adding that measures are being taken to enhance security in all custodial centres across the country to prevent such occurrences in the future.
He added that: “The Service remains committed to ensuring the safety of officers and the security of custodial facilities nationwide.”
