The purchases and distributions of the multi-billion-naira agricultural empowerment implements to farmers by the Yobe state government have encouraged many people to engage in farming activities in the state.
The impact of the implements is to improve agricultural productivity, ensure food sufficiency and security, as well as stimulate economic growth of the state. Thought these activities, the state this year will answer to its name as the food basket in Nigeria, so providing the agricultural equipment will have an impact on the farming.
Providing agricultural equipment to the farmers would go a long way in boosting enough food security in the state. The impact of providing the agricultural equipment also encourages the farmers to expand their farmland in order to boost the farming activities in Yobe State.
“By providing the implements, this year farmers in Yobe State will harvest more food security that for many years they never got it before; therefore, the implements have impacted the lives of the farmers in the state.
Alhaji Ibrahim Lawan, Sarkin Noma in Potiskum local government, commended His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON Chiroman Gujba, for making a positive decision to provide agricultural equipment to farmers in the state.
He said that before he was cultivating only half of his farmlands every year, but this year he is cultivating almost all because of the agricultural equipment assistance given to him by the Yobe state government under the able leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON. These encourage him seriously to engage fully in farming this year.
Another farmer in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, said it took him many years he didn’t go to farm, but this year, His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has encouraged him to go back to farm and engage in farming activities by providing me with all farming equipment.
Malam Garba Ahmed, a trader in Damagum, the headquarters of the Fune local government area, said this year because of the agricultural equipment provided by the Yobe state government, he dumps the trader business and goes back to the farm, where many farmers cultivate their farms only during the rainy season. But now His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, encourages them to engage in the irrigation farming with the assistance of the equipment given to them.

IGP’s continuous stay in office legal, lawful – AGF
IGP’s continuous stay in office legal, lawful – AGF
By: Our Reporter
The continuous stay in office of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is legal and lawful.
The appointment of Egbetokun which took effect from 31st day of October, 2023 would have come to an end on his attainment of 60 years of age on 4th day of September, 2024.
However, before his retirement age, the Police Act was amended to allow the occupant of the office to remain and complete the original four year term granted under Section 7 (6) of the Act, notwithstanding the fact that he has attained the age of 60 years. This has, therefore, statutorily extended the tenure of office of Egbetokun to and including 31st day of October, 2027 in order to complete the four year tenure granted to him.
For the avoidance of doubt, Egbetokun’s continous stay in office is in line with the provisions of the Police Act amended in 2024 which allow the occupant of the office to enjoy a term of four years effective from the date of his appointment as IGP, in this case, 31st day of October 2023.
This advisory is necessary for the guidance of the general public.
