101 Borno Christians Bag Honour Of JP After Israel Pilgrimage, Commend Zulum

About 101 members of the Christian community in Borno State have been bestowed with the honour of Jerusalem pilgrimage ( JP ) and ambassadors of Christ after 10 days of spiritual renewal and pilgrimage in Israel.
The successful pilgrims who were led to the holy by the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN ) , Borno State Chapter, Most Rev Dr. John Bogna Bakeni ,visited various significant holy sites in Jordan and Israel where they prayed for lasting peace in Borno, their various states and the Country at large.
Advising the pilgrims during the closing ceremony of the spiritual exercise on Friday in Jerusalem, where each of them bagged the honour alongside pilgrims from other states of the federation, Most Rev . Dr. Bakeni who is the Auxiliary Bishop of Maiduguri Catholic Dioceses, urged them to put in practice the spiritual experience they have gathered in the holy land.

The CAN Chairman said now that the pilgrims have been decorated as Jerusalem Pilgrims, they should put in practice what they have experienced, urging them not see the honour as just title, but also to reflect it in their actions, in their works and even in the way they talk and relate to one another.
He prayed for peace in the 2023 general elections and an end to the insecurity the the state, and as well prayed that all the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the captive of the insurgents to regain their freedom.
The Bishop thanked Governor Babagana Umara Zulum on behalf of the Christian Community in Borno state for his magnanimity, his generosity and kindness in sponsoring over 100 Christians to the holy land.
” So we remain grateful to him and we assure him that we will continue to pray for him. We visited various holy sites in the holy land , and all the sites are very important to Christians because ,they are directly connected to the history of salvation”, he said.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Zulum on legal Matters, Barr. Simon Malgwi, advised all the successful pilgrims to see the opportunity of attending the pilgrimage to the holy land as a means of spiritual growth.
Malgwi thanked Governor Zulum for his kind gesture by giving the Christians in the state the opportunity to visit the holy land.
A pilgrim, Mrs Victoria Dagat , said she has learnt a lot , adding that the pilgrimage so far has taught her that christianity is not just a smooth race , but a race that one has to strive hard to be able to live the life of christ.

” Christ suffered for our sake and we are not exceptional. We should not expect everything to be smooth for us as Christians. At all times we should ask God for grace to be able to continue this race of christianity to the end.
Another pilgrim, Senior Evangelist Nwannabuchi, said it is a great joy and opportunity for him to perform all the spiritual exercises in the holy land , adding that he is not even worthy, but saw himself in the holy land due to Governor Zulum’s kindness and benevolent.
” God commissioned the Governor to take me to the holy land this time around. It is a privilege and opportunity for me and I give God all the glory. My coming here has given me a total liberation in life. It has enhanced my knowledge and wisdom so that when I go back to Nigeria , I will begin to impact more knowledge on people on what I have learnt and observed.
