Aggrieved party members in the All Progressive Congress, APC on Sunday said that the appointment of Dr. Nentawe Yilwada as the party flag bearer for the 2023 general elections has cost the party it follower-ships as members have started decamping to other political party owing to what they received as an imposition of candidate.
A source within the APC told NEWSng that Dr. Nentawe Yilwada is believed to be a good candidate but the manner in which he emerged is questionable which led to a walkout by the other aspirants who contested for the governorship ticket on the same platform and lost.
The source revealed that although it is similar in other political parties across the country, most candidates who won the primary elections were sponsored by government resources to represent the interest of their sponsors.
One of the aspirants in the APC said that “there was no election in the just concluded primary elections, it is more of an appointment by the governor in favour of a particular candidate and we will not accept the outcome of the primary elections”
According to him, while aggrieved members who are not satisfied with the outcome of the primary elections are defecting to another party, it shocked many also when the former Chairman of APC in the state, Mr.Lateb Daban defected to the PDP.

“Lateb who championed the victory of the present governor because he did not support the then governor Jonah David Jang who wanted to impose his candidate on the people of plateau state defected to the PDP. This was shocking to many who thought the relationship between him and the governor can never be altered even if the governor was repeating Jang’s mistake but Mr. Lateb has proven to be a man worth his onions when it comes to doing the right things.
He declared recently in an interview with Rhythm FM in Jos that, “the APC is a dead party in the 2023 general elections in plateau state.”
NEWSng also gathered that delegates who claimed to have participated in the APC primary elections in Jos, allegedly fault the governor of hijacking the process by denying delegates the right to elect during the primary elections by imposing his preferred candidate.
“Those people masquerading as governorship candidates are political appointees by the governors who chose and sponsored them for political relevance in the corridor of power. But, until the government allows for free and fair elections in the state by nominating credible people who are driven by the ambition to excel in the business of governance, our country will not reach the Promised Land.
“Sadly, the cankerworms which bedeviled our polity is slowly crippling the nation’s economy and making life unbearable for its citizens.” He observed
