The sixth democratic dispensation is coming with promises for the young Nigerians to participate in the game hitherto considered for the rich and old. In the past they looked at the age for such political struggles on ground of experience. The experiences however could not deliver Nigeria on the highway of vibrancy. Therefore, this informed the need to open up doors for the young to blend with the old in carrying out the Nigeria Project.

This indeed started with the new leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC when we saw the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Abubakar Kyari. What comes to mind earlier this week was an experiment for the youths in southern Borno Senatorial District, when the hotgate opens up for Aliyu Mohammed Lawan also known as Bamanga.

On this stable, he accepted the call of the people seeking to replace a three term senator of the area, who is also seeking to remain in the red chambers for the fourth term. Indeed the 2023 general election will be presenting such great minds and the blend between the young and the old in the hollow chambers at Nigeria’s law making body.

Bamanga according to his followers and supporters will be among those who are being prepared to speak for Nigerians across the Senatorial District representing people who feel short change by poor representation, especially the people of southern Borno in the troubled northeast region of Nigeria.

The triumphant entry into some of local government areas that made up the southern Borno Senatorial District by Aliyu Mohammed Lawan can be described as a move by the people to ensure a change takes place where issues of development has been neglected and only left for the privileged ones instead of a privilege for the electorates.

His entrance into Bayo, Kwaya-Kusar and Biu local government areas where blessings as no politician in the league of his predecessors seeking for the Senatorial seat have enjoyed the welcome Bamanga had. Gwoza one of the creaming local governments in Borno state as regards to political vibrancy and where Bamanga held stood still from the entrance to the town to the palace of the Emir.

With thousands of supporters and well-wishers chanting his slogans, it took the aspirant about three hours to get to the palace for a traditional blessing owing to crowds of welcoming faces.

From all indications 2023 is not going to be like other election periods. This time around, the election year will usher in new changes in the polity.

Taking into cognizance of the fact that Nigeria is facing an unprecedented trying time where almost every strata of development has negatively affected the citizens, this time around, citizens are seriously yearning for competent hands in 2023 to fix the ailing county.

In every political discussion you hear people saying that this time around they are looking for competent hands.

This was not different with Borno state which is the political boiling pot in the northeast region. When speaking on the Borno south Senatorial District and the Senate seat, one would be tempted to say that the battles can equate with a governorship realities in most states across the country.

This is because with the numbers of educated people in the region who are constantly x-raying the activities of their representatives, the position requires a competent person to hold, at least, the one that would not embarrass the prestigious state in the red chamber.

For Bamanga, thousands have welcome him with open arms, his meetings with delegates is assuring and as tradition demands he was at the Emir of Biu palace where he was welcome as a son and received the fatherly blessings to go and represent the people of southern Borno south well in the red chamber.
