The Commandant General’s Special Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit (SAVMU) dislodged 5 illegal refineries at Obodo community Creek in Warri North, Delta State, where adulterated petroleum products were produced and distributed to unsuspecting users across the country.

A statement from DCC Olusola Odumosu, anipr Director Public Relations said,

the operation was carried out successfully following a tip off on the nefarious activities of vandals and oil thieves operating a very big camp with about 5 illegal refineries in the area. 

“Two (2) suspects were nabbed during the operation while other collaborators remained at large. The intelligence report however, revealed that the site belongs to three individuals which consist of one woman and 2 other men currently in NSCDC custody and are volunteering information to assist in carrying out further investigation.

“The Squad Commander, DCC Brah Umoru Samson, who led the operation, assured Nigerians that the SAVMU will not condone any act of sabotage to the economy and therefore warned all illegal operators to engage in legitimate business that will not contravene the law or compromise the safety of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the country.” The statement said

The statement reiterated that the arrested suspects will be prosecuted according to extant law and the Squad will ensure a total manhunt for those currently on the run. According to him, the illegal refineries and other equipment used for the illicit business has been destroyed, while investigation will be carried out with due diligence to unravel the other criminals connected to the crime for possible prosecution.

Suspected Berom Militia attack fulani youths returning from mosque, kill one, injure another in Plateau

Suspected Berom militia have reportedly killed a 28-year-old man and injured another in in a targeted attack on the fulani while they were returning from Maghreb prayers along the Dorowa–Rafamol road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:42 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, following a distress call from Rafamol community.
The sources said troops who responded to the call discovered that two persons had been shot by the suspected attackers.

One of the victims, identified as Abdullahi Yakubu, was reportedly killed at the scene, while the second victim, Abdullahi Aminu, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Aminu was subsequently taken to Barkin Ladi General Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment. According to the sources, three empty cartridge cases of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered at the scene

Troops have since intensified security operations around Dorowa Babuje and Rafamol communities to track down the perpetrators and prevent possible reprisals or further escalation of tensions.

Troops raid suspected robbers’ hideout in Nasarawa, recover motorcycle

LAFIA — Troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have conducted a clearance operation on a suspected robbery hideout at Agwatashi in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, following information on the suspected hideout of armed robbers in the area.

The troops searched the location but made no contact with the suspected criminals, who were believed to have fled before their arrival.

During the operation, the troops recovered one motorcycle and other miscellaneous items suspected to be associated with the activities of the group.

The recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

Security agencies are expected to sustain clearance operations across the area to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and prevent them from establishing operational bases in the community.

Suspected cattle rustlers injure youth in isolated attack in Plateau

A youth has sustained injuries after he was reportedly attacked by suspected Fulani cattle rustlers at Bakkanuk Village in Forof District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 5, when troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to a report of an attack on a VGN youth identified as Mr Kamaillo Godfrey Benedict.

The troops, upon arrival at the location, found the victim with injuries, while the suspected attackers had fled the area.

Benedict was evacuated to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical treatment.

Troops have commenced efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
