Borno State Deputy Governor Hosts ANAN and ADB on Courtesy Call, ANAN Donates N2 Million to Alleviate Maiduguri Flood Disaster.

Receiving the delegation at the Council Chamber, the Deputy Governor Borno State, His Excellency Dr Umar Kadafur appreciated ANAN for identifying with Government and people of Borno State over the devastating flood in Maiduguri and its environs that ravaged many houses

He stated that it’s s not about the quantum of the money but the spirit behind the gesture” while assuring them of effective utilization of the funds

The Deputy Governor further acknowledged the valuable contribution of ANAN to the Nigerian economy for offering consultancy strategic financial services to various public sector organisations, private organisations, individuals and communities.

Earlier, the Chairman of ANAN Borno State Branch, Alhaji Alkali Kolo noted that they were in his office to convey their heartfelt sympathy and support to the Government and people of Borno State over the unfortunate incident, while announcing the donation of 2 million naira to the State Government.

…… On Africa Development Bank (ADB)

In a related development, HE Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur received another delegation from African Development Bank (ADB)

The General Manager Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RUWASSA) Engr Mohammed Musa Aliyu who accompanied the delegation, to meet the Borno State Government on its projects implementation in area of water supply, sanitation health , education and employment opportunities.

The delegation which was led by Miss Astrid Ngako, the African Development Bank Divisional Manager in charge of West Africa for water and sanitation, were in Borno to assess the implementation of the “Inclusive Basic service and livelihoods support” project in the State.

The delegation lauded the implementation of the project by the Governor of Borno, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum describing it as largely successful.

The delegation of the ADB, includes the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and the North East Development Commission.

In attendance were the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Bukar Tijani, Head of service, Barr. Mallam Fannami, mni, Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Haruna Hassan Tela, Principal Secretary, Mohammed Adamu Lawan, Members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants among others.

Prof Gutti assumes the role of substantive Vice Chancellor at Borno State University (BOSU).

Professor Gutti Babagana has officially assumed office as the second substantive Vice Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU) during a ceremony held today, October 22, 2024, at the University Senate Chamber.

The event was attended by prominent intellectuals, including colleagues, associates, and mentees, who gathered to witness the symbolic transition of leadership.

In his introductory remarks, outgoing acting VC Professor H. Dlakwa praised Professor Gutti’s impressive academic record and leadership qualities, noting that his accomplishments positioned him well to steer the university towards greater achievements.

Dlakwa expressed gratitude for the support he received from the university community during his tenure and encouraged continued cooperation with the new VC.

Professor Gutti, in his address, expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, for the opportunity to serve the university and pledged to align his leadership with the state’s 25-year developmental and 10-year strategic plans through research and community service. He extended thanks to the university’s governing council, Senate, and staff for their support and expressed his openness to feedback and constructive criticism as he outlined his vision for BOSU’s growth.

Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, acting chairman of the Governing Council, also shared his confidence in Professor Gutti’s ability to meet expectations and tackle the challenges ahead. The handover of official documents marked the formal transfer of responsibilities.

On behalf of Professor Gutti’s family and associates, Engr. Dr. Ali Yaumi conveyed appreciation to Governor Zulum and the university’s governing council, Senate, and staff, affirming that Professor Gutti would work diligently for the betterment of BOSU in line with the governor’s vision.

As part of efforts to kickstart the implementation of the Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project, the newly constituted Yobe State SOLID project team, led by State Project Coordinator Suleiman Dauda, held its maiden meeting today, 21st October 2024, in Damaturu, the state capital.

The meeting focused on the significant responsibilities ahead of the team and deliberated on the strategic actions required to ensure the project’s success.

In his opening remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda, welcomed and congratulated the team members on their well-deserved appointments.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork, dedication, and a results-driven approach to ensure the successful implementation of the project’s various components.

During the meeting, Suleiman Dauda highlighted that the SOLID Project is designed to improve access to basic services and economic opportunities for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, and contribute to the overall development of the state.

The PC stressed the need for strong collaboration with all relevant stakeholders at the state, local, and community levels to achieve the project’s objectives.

He also used the opportunity to commend the Yobe State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, for its visionary leadership and commitment to addressing the challenges faced by IDPs and host communities.

Suleiman Dauda assured the government and stakeholders that the SOLID team will work diligently to deliver on the project’s mandate and justify the confidence placed in them.

Under the massive solar street light installation project embarked by Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan SAN to lighten up all parts of Borno Central Senatorial District,  Konduga town is connected and the installation team is moving to Kawuri village and subsequently Bama.

It is common knowledge that Auno is already connected, so also some parts of Fori, Barracks and Airport road in Jere and MMC local government.
