NIGERIAN ARMY BURIES LATE BRIG GEN EF ZAMANI (RTD) IN ZONKWA, KADUNA STATE

The Nigerian Army has bid a final farewell to the late Brigadier General Elias Fadda Zamani (Retired) on 15 March 2025, in his hometown of Zonkwa, Kaduna State. Late Brigadier General Zamani who was a member of the 14th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy passed away in Abuja on 27 February 2025, after a brief illness.

Born on 21 July 1952, in Zonkwa, Kaduna State, Brigadier General Zamani’s illustrious military career began at the Nigerian Defence Academy, where he was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 13 December 1975. He rose through the ranks, holding various command, staff, instructional, and extra-regimental appointments, before he voluntarily retired on 31 May 2006, after over three decades of distinguished service in the Nigerian Army.
At the funeral ceremony, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, representing the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede NAM, described Brigadier General Zamani as a highly trained and disciplined professional soldier. He highlighted the late general’s exceptional leadership traits, professionalism, and commitment to duty, earned or exhibited during his attendance of various military courses in Nigeria and abroad.

The COAS further eulogized the late senior officer, describing him as a silent worker, a brilliant, resourceful, and self-assured senior officer with impeccable integrity. He added that Brigadier General Zamani was a transformational leader and a true patriot, whose contributions to the Nigerian Army left lasting marks of excellence. His dedication to the welfare of his troops and the harmonious and cordial relationship with his colleagues were widely recognized, respected, and commended.

The solemn military ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas, wife of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, senior military officers, coursemates of the deceased senior officer, family members, and friends, all gathered to pay their last respect to a man who dedicated his life to serving the nation.

Police Arrest NSCDC Officer Over Shooting Incident in Lagos

The Nigerian Police Force in Lagos has arrested a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Abah Gabriel, over the alleged shooting of a man in Ikorodu.
Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on March 15, 2025, at about 0900hrs at 3ple Hotel, Adamo, Ikorodu.
It was gathered that Gabriel, a Chief Corps Assistant attached to the Arms Squad Department of the NSCDC in Lagos, was on duty at the hotel when he allegedly had an altercation with one Imole Oyewole, 32.
Oyewole had visited the hotel, allegedly intending to smoke hard drugs on the premises. The dispute escalated, leading Gabriel to shoot Oyewole in the back of his left leg, causing him to fall unconscious.
The sources said upon receiving a distress call, police tactical operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, documented the incident, and rescued the victim. Oyewole was rushed to Alheri Hospital, Adamo, Ikorodu, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The NSCDC officer was immediately taken into custody, and his AK-47 rifle with breech number 39246 was recovered as an exhibit.
The Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC has been contacted regarding the incident.

Police Arrest Two Over Beheading of 10-Year-Old Almajiri in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 10-year-old Almajiri, Abdalla Lawali, in Jada Local Government Area.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects, identified as Ibrahim Abdulmalik (27) and Aliyu Abdulmalik (18), were apprehended following credible intelligence linking them to the crime.
Sources confirmed that Lawali, a resident of Agwan Dubai, was reported missing on March 7, 2025. Investigations led to the arrest of the two suspects from Agwan Sarkin Yamma, who later confessed to beheading the child.
The police visited the crime scene, where both the body and severed head of the victim were recovered.
The sources said the Adamawa Police Command has assured the public that a discreet investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the gruesome act while suspects would be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.

Police, Vigilantes Foil Kidnapping Attempt in Delta, Recover Ammunition

A joint team of police operatives and local vigilantes in Delta State has rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ammunition after engaging suspected herdsmen in a gun battle.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of March 16, when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogwashi-Uku Division received a distress call that a man identified as Chinonso (surname unknown), a resident of Agidese by Ugbo-Onicha Quarters, had been abducted by armed men.
The security personnel and vigilante groups, swiftly mobilized a team who pursued the kidnappers into the Ugbo-Onicha forest. Sensing the presence of security forces, the assailants opened fire, prompting the operatives to respond with superior firepower.
Overpowered, the kidnappers abandoned their victim and fled into the forest, leaving behind: 60 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, two expended AK-47 cartridges, One Itel phone with two SIM cards and other items.
A search operation is ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while security personnel have intensified security patrols in the area to prevent further incidents.
