The various social media platforms emanating from around the globe have no doubt brought people together for reasons and purposes. It has also kept free flow of information. But Samaru Nostalgia Platform (SNF ) is keeping her group members’ memories alive, including this writer. SNP is also rekindling places, events and people whom we once lived with giving us clear images of who we were as children and young boys and girls growing up in Samaru- Zaria.

When our good childhood friends: Ahmad Balele Mamman, Mohammed Damakka Abubakar (Yaro), Brig- General MK Ahmed ( Kabiru), Abubakar Abdullahi (Uba Tulu) Danjuma Audu and Shaibu Salisu came together and hatched this brilliant idea of historical significant of having Samaru Nostalgia Platform (SNP) in 2019 little did we knew that will be a lively place to belong.

Today SNP has made an in- road into the hearts and homes of every one of our generation and those before us who were born, lived and grew- up or might have spent much of their lives or partly, shortly stayed in Samaru who are today men and women will appreciate the importance of SNP.    The significance of SNP is of three dimensions: social, educational and economical.

All these angles are for you and it depends on what you are looking for on the group platform. But to all of us I believe it is information, our past and memories.     The platform tries to disengage  and devoid herself from religious, political and ethnicity because membership cuts across these lines criss- cross. And be reminded that you must have lived particularly in inner and greater Samaru excluding Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U) community and you must have interacted with peers of your age group to qualify for SNP membership.

When I spoke recently with the Group Administrator Ahmad Balele told me that he now appreciated the SNP for bringing out some persons he least expected to have grown up or once lived in Samaru. Most importantly, his childhood mates he long lost contact with. “Samaru is our past, history and a very long memory lane. We belong here and look forward to a great reunion when the time comes”  he said with a smile.

The Group Administrator further said that it will be a great get-together of the century for those of us who are still alive will see each other in celebration of memories and there will be visits to some selected places within Samaru town and its environs.
