Abuja Prison Attack: ISWAP claim responsibility on Kuje

The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency has released a video with the caption written in Arabic claiming that the Islamic state for West African Province, ISWAP is responsible for the attack on Kuje Prison.

The caption was translated: “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners”

ISWAP, which claimed responsibility for attack on Kuje Correctional facility have released 64 top Boko Haram Commanders detained in the facility.

The Islamic sect known to have been operating in Borno state in northeast Nigeria have in the 38 second video show its fighters in action during the Attack.

The release of video late Wednesday was at the backdrop of the beliefs in the media that attackers that left over 800 detained terrorists and other criminal free was orchestrated by the Boko Haram.

The Kuje facility was housing criminals and other high profile Nigerians, thus when terrorists stormed the Correctional Centre late Tuesday, it was panic in Kuje throughout the night as reasons for the attack was not immediately known.

In footage of the video on Wednesday evening, the terrorist sect showed some of its men shooting and making inroad to the facility.

The fighters in their numbers were seen in the video marching in groups while vehicles parked in the premises and buildings were on fire.
