ADC: I’m authentic chairman in Gombe- Danladi Yau says
Mr Danladi Yau, on Friday said he remained the Gombe State chairman of the African Democratic Congress, stating that any other person claiming leadership of the party was fake and illegitimate.
Yau disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the party’s State Executive Council meeting held in Gombe on Friday.
He stated that those parading themselves as executives under the leadership of Auwal Barde was working to destroy the party.
“ I am the authentic chairman of the ADC in Gombe State, recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“Anybody parading himself as chairman is fake and illegal of them to do so.
“Auwal Barde that is claiming leadership of the party in Gombe State was the former chairman who served since 2011 and his tenure lapsed in 2019.
“This is according to the four years of two terms, maximum stipulated by our party constitution.
“Barde has been expelled from the party in 2022 and we have the letter here, so how can he be the chairman?.”
Yau pledged allegiance to the David Mark-led leadership at the national level, urging members to work together to strengthen the party ahead of 2027.
He said that the ADC under his leadership was working to rescue Nigeria from the APC-government induced hardship that had made many Nigerians poor.
While displaying membership cards and register, the state chairman said that the ADC would soon begin registration of new members across the 114 wards in the state.
He said that the registration was to mobilise huge membership to challenge the All Progressives Congress-led government in the state and nation.
Speaking further, the chairman urged residents of Gombe State to embrace the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
He said that citizens of the state had the responsibility of acquiring their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to be eligible to participate in any political process.
He said that part of the civic rights of Nigerians was to acquire their PVCs to participate in electoral process and make democratic decisions that would bring about the needed change that they seek.
Yau, therefore, urged all Nigerians and particularly ADC members in the country to embrace the ongoing CVR while advising those that just turned 18 to register too.
