Aisha defeats incumbent to emerge NAWOJ National President

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ has elected, Comrade Aisha Bura as the new President to defeat the incumbent Comrade Ladi Bala in a fierce contest.
The election was conducted at the 11th triennial delegates conference of the Association held in the federal capital territory Abuja on Sunday.
According to the result, Aisha Ibrahim pulled a total of 498 votes to defeat her archival Ladi Bala who scored 381.
Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, who is a staff of the Ministry of Information Borno state.
The NAWOJ president-elect has also been sworn oath of office.
In her acceptance speech, the president pledges to protect the interest of women journalists while carrying out reforms that will uplift the NAWOJ.
Other elected include; Wasilan Ladan, who emerged as National Secretary of NAWOJ, and Lillian Okonkwo emerged as National Deputy President while other candidates on the Bura team won their elections.
It would be recalled that Aisha lost against Ladi in 2020 at Minna, Niger State but re-strategized and returned this year to achieve her dream.
