AU Commissioner commends MNJTF for contribution against terrorism in the region

The Commisioner in charge of Political Affairs, Peace and Security in the African Union (AU) Ambassador Bankole Adeoye has commended the multinational joint task force mnjtf for their enormous contribution in the fight against violent terrorism in the region.
The Commissioner who in company of other top officials of the AU paid a working visit to the Headquarters of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF ) on Tuesday in N’djamena, said he was impressed about the progress made so far by the force against insurgents.
Before his remarks, Commissioner Adeoye was given an extensive brief on the activities of the MNJTF especially its operations and challenges it was facing in the region.
He was informed that normalcy was gradually returning to the Lake Chad basin region as several communities have been resettled as a result of effective collaboration by the MNJTF, other operations and the political authorities with a promised to sustain the tempo.
Adeoye was also briefed on the just concluded Operation Lake Sanity which was a combined Operation involving all the Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) of the MNJTF.
Responding the AU Commissioner paid special tribute to the leaders of the Lake Chad Basin Countries of Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and also the observer Country of Benin Republic adding that their foresight and commitment in ensuring the formation of the MNJTF and its sustenance was highly commendable.
He also commended the work of the MNJTF and the excellent leadership provided by the Force Commander Major General Abdul Kalifa and his management team.

Commissioner Adeoye acknowledged that the MNJTF had done a lot in restoring stability in its area of responsibility by fighting violent extremism and terrorism which the AU is happy about.
He further stated that the MNJTF stood out as a model in the struggle against terrorism that should be emulated by others.
The Commissioner also paid special tribute to the fallen heroes of the MNJTF who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the quest for peace.
Adeoye expressed gratitude to the personnel of the MNJTF on behalf of the AU for their dedication and selfless service with a promise of continuous support to the Force until its mandate is achieved.
Earlier Adeoye had visited the Executive Secretary (ES) of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) Ambassador Mamman Nuhu who also serves as the Head of Mission of the MNJTF where he appreciated him for his guidance of the force with a strong assurance that the AU would continue to support the MNJTF.
