AUDIO MONEY: Rev. Yakubu Pam And The Northeast Star Award 2021

I have attended and participated in many fund- raising and other related ceremonies where pledges were made but few were redeemed and many more  were not.. This is not an appeal fund issue but an award ceremony where some Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their career, businesses and professions with excellence. This was equally a ceremony for people who have contributed to nation building and their community.     

Rev. Yakubu Pam the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) was one among the recipients of the award of Desmond Tutu Humanitarian, Religious Tolerance and Christian Stewardship 2021 in Yola.

In our history of award ceremonies for the past (6) years we have never ever solicited, asked, requested and/ or begged our awardees before or after the occasion for money in whichever way because we at Northeast Star Magazine so much value and cherished our corporate identity, awards and personality as individuals. But, if a recipient makes a pledge we humbly do a follow- up as a reminder of his promise.

We were shocked by Rev. Pam muteness on this matter considering his personality and position all enveloped in religious spirituality in his dealings with members of the public.     

The Northeast Star Magazine I am sure never asked the Reverend to make any monetary pledge. He was neither under duress to make a pledge but he did. However, we were shocked by his response.

I personally feel I should ask the Reverend a simple question and to ask him so as to know whether he made the promise he did under duress.

I was surprised by his response and in my capacity as Editorial Board Member of this reputable news magazine aforementioned, I stand to say Reverend, you are neither a man of honour nor can one hold you on your words as a live- wire. My simple opinion for a man of God.
