B/Haram: FG supports 7, 264 vulnerable people in Borno

Federal government have support and empowered a total of 7,264 most vulnerable people affected by the 13 year old Boko Haram insurgents across 27 local government areas of Borno State.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umaru Farouk started this during the flagged off federal government grants for vulnerable groups and digitised payment for conditional cash transfer in Maiduguri Wednesday.
She stressed that 30 percent of overall figure are women and 15 percent were aged persons including displaced persons who have been trained in various business to ensure that they are out of poverty into prosperity.

“Let me add here that our target in Borno State is to disburse the grant to 7,264 beneficiaries across the 27 Local Government Areas of the State. This is one of the highest lot in the country and this is because we put into account the impact of insurgency and large volume of IDPs in the state.
“President Muhammadu Buhari, through is deliberate social inclusion agenda has directed that 70% of these beneficiaries must be women, while the remaining 30% is for the youths. Heal so directed that, at least 15% of the total number of beneficiaries must specifically be allocated to citizens with special needs, including ParsonsWith Disability (PWDs) and Senior Citizens in the State.
“It is on this note that we encourage the Borno State government to note and emulate this gesture and extend similar interventions to amplify social inclusion through its policies, programmes and projects,” she said.
The Chief of Staff to Borno governor, Prof. Hussein Marte thanked the federal government for empowering vulnerable people who have suffered from the conflicts, while urging the beneficiaries to ensure they made use of the items.
