A notorious bandit leader identified as Kachalla Namadi has been killed by unidentified armed men suspected to be members of a rival gang near Kangon Fara Mana village, east of Magami town in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on April 11, when Namadi was reportedly on his way to visit a widow in the village, believed to have been the wife of a deceased bandit.
It was gathered that several gang members were interested in marrying the woman, but Namadi had insisted that she be given to him, a demand that allegedly provoked resentment among the rival group.
Sources said the assailants, believed to be fellow bandits, laid an ambush and shot him dead before he reached his destination.
Kachalla Namadi, who was based in Madada village, in the Dan Sadau district of Maru LGA, was known to have terrorised communities in the region. He was also said to have fathered over 50 children.
His death is seen as part of the growing trend of internal rivalries and violent clashes among armed bandit factions operating in the North West region.
