Bandits abduct journalist in Adamawa

A broadcast journalist Usman Sahabi has been abducted by a group of bandits inside Yola, the state capital.

Usman a staff of the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation on secondment as the Chief of Staff to the Speaker House of Assembly, was kidnapped from his “Wuro Chekke” home at after 1 am on Friday and dragged to some unknown destination.

Impeccable sources close to the Nigerian union of journalists (NUJ) revealed that about five bandits were spotted in the dark firing in the air before entering Usman’s home to abduct him to an unknown destination in the wee hours of Friday.

Responding to the matter however, chair of the NUJ, Ishaka Dedan told this reporter that the police are on top of the Situation adding that details of some security situations are not revealed but his colleagues will soon be freed.

Spokesman of the Adamawa police command Suleiman Nguroje, who spoke to newsmen about their colleague assured that all operational assets have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue and return of the journalist.

He assured further that the police was determined to bring him back unharmed adding that family members and the public should remain calm for the security network in the state to conclude it’s task.
