Bandits attack residents of Kaduna community
… killing and maiming many including a Reverend of the ECWA church
…. Abducts wife and son
By: Bodunrin Kayode
Suspected Fulani bandits have again attacked a community in Southern Kaduna, slaughtering many including a Reverend of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kaduna state.
The residents of Kajuru on the 23rd of March went to sleep peacefully not knowing that they will soon get into another state of mourning as several people were wounded and killed including, Rev Mairimi whose wife was abducted and taken into the bush by suspected Fulani bandits last Thursday.
Many others were believed to have been abducted equally by the assailants when they left on the wee hours of Friday morning.
But search parties have been organized up to Saturday morning to fish out corpses and re unite missing families who ran into the bush for safety.
Until his death, Rev Mairimi was the Pastor of ECWA church Buda 2 kasua Magani, District Church Council (DCC) in Kajuru council area of Kaduna State.
Attempts to reach the Kaduna state Police Command spokesperson Mohammed Jalige by phone as at the time of writing this report, was futile.
However sources within the Church said that the wife of the slain Reverend Mairimi was equally abducted in the process of the slaughter of her husband which she obviously witnessed.
“They attacked the community where he’s pastoring, killed him and went away with his wife and son.
” We don’t know if they razed down his Church with 200-300 members at Kajuru which is a mini town in Kaduna in Buda, a village under kajuru Local Church Council (LCC).
” Top ECWA management of the church are still in shock as at the time of writing this report but we in Kaduna are praying that the wife is released as soon as possible.” said our source.
The Kaduna state government has also not reacted to the matter as at the time of filing this report.
This lingering brutality by bandits have rendered many villages as ghost communities as much as most of the villagers had to escape for their own lives leaving these rouge bandits who come in as herders during the day and transform into marauders in the night.
Stringent cries by the people of southern Kaduna for help against this lingering genocide has fallen on deaf ears as the bandits have been consistent in their attack, kill and occupy policy.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered the bodies of four herders allegedly killed by local youths in a reprisal attack in Kamantan Chiefdom, Kaduna State.
Security sources said the incident followed a kidnapping episode at Zuturuntinta village, where the herders were reported missing.

The sources disclosed that troops received intelligence on April 4 indicating that the victims were attacked and killed while relocating with their cattle to a safer location on the same night of the incident.
“They were reportedly intercepted and attacked by some angry youths, allegedly in retaliation for the death of a local during the kidnapping incident,” the source said.
Following the report, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah in the area requested military assistance to mobilise the community for a search operation to locate the missing herders.

Troops were immediately deployed to the village, where they convened a meeting with community members, including the village head.
The village head was said to have provided local hunters and members of the Kaduna Vigilante Service (KADVS) to support the search alongside troops and Fulani representatives.
During the operation, troops identified multiple indicators suggesting the herders had been killed.
“Following blood trails, troops discovered a shallow grave where the four victims were buried,” the source added.
Items recovered at the scene included two mobile phones.
The remains of the victims were reburied at the same location in accordance with Islamic rites, with the consent of their families and Fulani community leaders.

The Sector Commander has directed community leaders to produce those responsible for the killings not later than Wednesday to face justice and help restore peace in the area.
Troops have since been deployed to reinforce security and prevent possible reprisal attacks.
