BASA :Plan underway to combating insecurity and bring lasting peace- NAF

The Nigerian Air Force(NAF) has reiterated that plans are underway to reposition their operation across all platforms to enable combating insecurity and bring lasting peace to the country.
The Commader 105 Composite Group Maiduguri, Air Commodore Caleb Olayera made the declaration in Maiduguri at NAF’s Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) to mark the end of 2023 and usher in 2024 and to chart the way forward.
Our Correspondent report that this is the first of BASA’s event in the threatre war after more than a decade of insurgency crisis.
He said remarkable achievements have been recorded in the preceding year leading to killing of scores of Boko Haram commanders and their logistics, reduction of attacks on the communities in Borno State.
“For the Nigerian Air force we have planned to Repositing ourselves in order to meet up with the security challenges that we actually experiencing in the country.
“We have been doing more and we are going to do much better in order to ensure lasting peace and security comes to the nations.”he affirmed.
He charged NAF personnel to maintain high vigilance and alertness in dealing with the country’s current security challenges.
He said this year’s celebration was redefined, rebranded, and hinged on promoting family values, unity, cohesion, peace and progress, and good neighbourliness, as well as the civilian population towards better understanding mandate of the force.
Air Commodore Caleb explained that such socio cultural events will aid in cementing civil military relationship as well as winning confidence of the larger population hence organizing it yearly.
In his remarks, Governor Babagana Zulum represented by the Permanent Secretary Political and Cabinet affairs, Danjuma Ali said the Air force remains an integral part of the Borno project especially the ongoing recovery plan and reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthen partnership with the force for optimum results.
The event also featured presentation of gifts to the Governor, heads of military and para military organizations, personnel of the force as well as tug of war among other mind blowing activities.
