Boko Haram family surrenders to troops due to hardship in insurgents enclaves

A family linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) has surrendered to troops of 192 Battalion in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the family surrendered to the troops at about 12:20 p.m. on May 27.
The sources disclosed that preliminary investigation revealed that the family escaped from the Kimbe terrorist enclave located in the Mandara Mountains due to lack of basic necessities.
According to the sources, the head of the family said the difficult living conditions within the enclave forced them to flee and surrender to the troops.
The family reportedly surrendered with a cash sum of N50,500.
The sources added that the surrendered persons had been properly screened, documented and were currently in military custody for further necessary action.
