Boko Haram: Top ISWAP Commander, others killed in Lake Chad

Nigerian security forces allegedly eliminated a top Commander of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, popularly called Sani Shuwaram alongside other fighters from the group around Marte local government areas in northern Borno, northeast Nigeria.
Intelligence from the security operations reveals that the group was hit by an airstrike during a raid of the area by security forces.
According to reports, the Nigerian Air Force, Super Tucano jet rain fire on the terrorists camp with a precise target at the top Commanders camp located in the area.
“Shuwaram died from gunshot wounds he had sustained when military fighter jets raided ISWAP camp at the Sabon Tumbuns general area of Lake Chad.” A source revealed.

According to reports, Shuwaram was among top watched terrorists Commander and was injured by NAF air interdiction missions conducted at Sabon Tumbuns near Kirta Wulgo in February 2022.
It was reported that he had been in the Marte axis nursing his wounds before the raid last week, which led to his death alongside other commanders and top fighters reportedly said to have converged for a meeting.
It could be recalled that Shuwaram was appointed last year in November by the shira committee of the ISWAP as Wali of the lake chad region (leader) in order to conduct the affairs of the region.
He was also said to have led many battles both with the Nigerian security forces and Boko Haram faction. He was also said to have initiated the conscription of returnees and forced many fishermen to flee the region to avoid being conscripted as foot soldiers for the ISWAP.
