Boko Haram: Troops neutralize 4 ISWAP Elements in Borno

Ngwom community in Mafa local government area of Borno state in northeast Nigeria on Tuesday evening came under heavy attack by terrorists suspected to be elements of the Islamic State for West African Province, ISWAP.
The attack on Ngwom about 20km from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, lasted for about three hours, residents of the community told Newsmen.
A military source disclosed that four of the ISWAP fighters were neutralized while many were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Speaking of the attack, a resident of the Ngwom community who identifies himself as Isah Mamman said that the ISWAP elements sneaked into the area in six gun trucks at about 7:00pm and started shooting .
“We just rounded up our prayers in the evening at about 7 O’clock and we’re chatting when we heard the gunshots and everyone went to his house. The shooting continued because the soldiers also engaged them. We continued to pray because at that time there was no way we could go out. Some people had fled to the bush on the other side but we remained until after 10:00pm when the sound of guns subsided.

” I gathered courage and went out to check on my brothers. Some military men came around also to check on residents and possibly fish out some of the bad elements who may be hiding around town.” Isah Mamman said.
Also a military source revealed that troops from the 195 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai in Jere were mobilised after receiving an alert on the movement of terrorists in the town.
“The troops from a Taskforce Battalion in Jere engaged the terrorists in the gun battle and eliminated some of them.
“As of now, we have counted four corpses of the invaders as we are still pursuing them and following the trail of blood in the bush.
