Boko Haram: Two CJTF killed in Monguno laid to rest

Two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF killed during an attack yesterday in Monguno have been buried today Monday in Monguno town of northern Borno in Northeast Nigeria.

ISWAP militants launched an attack in Monguno but we’re repelled by vigilant troops. However, the militants while making an inroad during the attack killed two members of the CJTF keeping watch near the trenches few metres away from one to f the large camps.

A member of the joint account ask force, Bukar Kolo (not real name), who spoke with NEWSng on Monday morning revealed that the Insurgents were being fed with information from some of the repentant terrorists and members of their families from the Water Board extension camp.

“Several times we have heard reports of some IDPs given information to terrorists. We have arrested some in the past and handed them over to soldiers, who execute judgement on them. Some of them give information out of fear, others have direct relationship with the Insurgents.” He said

Humanitarian workers also confirmed the killing of the two members of the CJTF.

“It is unfortunate. I know those guys who paid the supreme price. We also commended them for their hard work. They are very strong and youthful and always hope that they see the end of the conflicts in northeast Nigeria.

“I recalled speaking with one of them who told me that he was doing the job to ensure the safety of his family members. He used to say that one day this thing shall be a story and indeed he has been a fighter.” He said

He said they have always advise staff to watch their backs as they are surrounded by ISWAP elements and their informants who constantly spy around working civilians especially the aid workers.
