Borno declares Monday Public Holiday to celebrate Muharram

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has declared Monday the first of Muharram equivalent of the ninth of August 2021 as a public holiday to commemorate the New Islamic year 1443 after the migration of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him from Makka to Madinah.

The Commissioner, Home Affairs Information and Culture, Baba Kura Abba Jato, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, Governor Zulum urged all and sundry to seize this opportunity to fast and pray for the return of peace to the state and the entire nation.

Furthermore, His Excellency appealed to the entire people of Borno state to leave in peace and harmony of which Borno is known throughout history.

He, however, congratulated the entire people of Borno state for witnessing yet another Islamic year.
